Phone keeps rebooting and optimizing apps what did i do? lol

I got rid of the Google news and weather widget. Disabled it and my phone stopped rebooting.

In my case it was the power button that became "gunked" up. I stumbled on this find when my phone restarted for the who knows how many times, and I just started hitting it on my desk. I was hitting it with the phone turned sideways (horizontally perpendicular) and the power button facing down toward the edge of the desk. I did this a few times, started my phone back and haven't had a problem since. I didn't wipe any caches, no factory reset, kept the original battery, uninstall any apps. I just knocked it around a bit.

A few weeks later, I had the opportunity to verify this problem as my wife's phone started exhibiting the same behavior. I did the same thing to her phone, albeit a bit more controlled, and now her phone is functioning as expected again too.

So I've been facing this problem during all weekend, and I'm just about to call my Nexus 5 officially dead.

Same symptoms as others. I installed Android 5.1.1 a few days back. The phone started to reboot once and again. Since I had the "lock button issue" before, I knew this time wasn't the same thing. The system starts and tries to optimize the apps due an abnormal shutdown. After trying to optimize 80,120, or any random number of apps, it restarts again in an endless loop.

I have tried all: I wiped the cache partition, once and again. I tried to go back flashing to a previous android version. Didn't work. I tried installing cyanogen mod, and still facing the same issue.

I'm not sure if replacing the battery will do the trick, but I suspect another kind of hardware damage in my device.

If anyone has the same issues as mine, drop me a message and let's see if we can came up with a solution.

Thanks,

Quck update:

I removed the SIM tray and was able to do some progress. The system now boots into Android, but the applications are still failing. Can someone try the same?

I got the same problem since today.
I accidentally dropped my phone, and the battery flew out. After i put it back in it started the optimizing in an endless loop.
when i just let it run, it randomly starts over before its finished.
But when i play with the volume keys to keep it from standby (i think) it seems to finish and start up my phone.
after a certain time tho, it crashes again. and i either have to force restart or it reboots on itself. and the entire optimizing thing starts all over again!

I got an LG G4s (2/3 months old)
I dont think its due to an app on my phone, its more like a mix up in hardware after the fall.

Can i fix this?

i have the same problem with my phone (LG G4 H815 global). it is restarting alone time by time and it couldn't turn on. however it shows me that the phone doing optimizing but it couldn't finished it...how can i solve this problem without loosing any data.

Happening to my LG G Stylo as well. If it does turn on when I press the power button I typically have 3-15 seconds before it either shuts off or continuously reboots over and over again. Factory reset the phone and its still persisting. 2 month old phone pretty much bricked.

Have you tried replacing the battery and try again?

I am 99.9% sure it was my case causing the power button to stick on my N6. I took the case apart and cleaned the button really well, then made sure I had it on correctly and it stopped my problem over 4 months ago. I have since sold the N6 and the new owner (a friend) has not had the problem either. I hope this helps and of course if you don't have a case on yours, well good luck in getting it working again!

Did you prefer to install apps in the external storage? Because I found out that the cause was that I was installing apps in my external storage...So I installed them in my internal storage and guess what? It worked! I have no clue why it fixed the problem... Good luck though

I found a solution which helped me to solve this problem.
my Note 4 was consantly rebooding saying "Android is Starting... Optimizing app # of #" while the phone was getting very warm.

so i put it on cold stone surface letting it cool done while doing this operation. And surprisingly it helped!!!
it was my last hope before resenting and erasing everything.

My CAT S40 does exactly the same - self turn-off in the pocket, get heated like crazy, and then start optimizing the apps at startup for some 20 minutes or more before it becomes usable again. Definitely a 5.1 issue (the device came with 5.1 preinstalled, so the issue is NOT a result of an upgrade and NOT device-specific and NOT operator-specific).

hello what should i do my phone nexus 4 version 5.1. after booting my phone always show optimizing application then i wait too long ... it always happen when i reboot my phone...pls help me.. pls give some tips to avoid this problem ...

I tried updating my WhatsApp messenger and immediately it got installed,my phone rebooted itself and began optimizing apps, afterwards it reboots again and continues the same process over and over again, what should I do

If you have Zedge, this is what is causing it.
I had also done other updates and thought it was Android System WebView as it started right after that had updated. Then I read it's Zedge and I've had that program for almost 2 years. I had restarted phone and was again stuck on "Optimizing", but for me each time it has been a good 20 minutes.
I uninstalled Zedge and it started right up, no Optimizing. Thanks for everyone who figured this out!

Hi everyone.
Same problem with LG G4 and 3 apps.
One was Zegde as mentionned above.
Two other ones were Deezer (confirmed by their support) and Facebook messenger.

Took a while to find them but now everything is OK.

Hi, same issue happened for my friend.
Finally i solved it.by formatted the phone ( Sad thing is you lose the DATA)
Samsung J7
> Turnoff Phone
>Press Power + volume Up + home (at a time)
> it wil takes you to recovery mode
>Wipe data/Format
>use Volume button and press "yes"
>Reboot your phone.

This worked For me.
