Like I'll be using it and then it will just shut off and then when I boot it back up, it says the battery is very low or it shuts off during bootup! It would shut off at like 80% or other random percents! It has been doing this for a month, but it's gotten much worse! I can't even have it unplugged for 10 or 15 minutes without it doing this! Also the 5.1 update didn't even help. I have had this phone for a little over a year. I got it 2 weeks after it came out! I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Also I'm trying to attach pictures of the battery status but the app keeps crashing every time I try to do that! 😭

The battery might be failing. How low do you usually let it go before recharging? If you habitually let it drop to single digits, that can shorten the overall battery lifespan. In general, it's a good idea to start recharging at around 30-40%.

If the battery is failing, then you'll either have to get it replaced at a repair shop, or try to do it yourself. Here's a video:

I usually charge it until it needs to be charged. I also charge it at night. I try to charge it when it needs to be. How can I for sure tell the battery is bad? Can I run a test? Also if it is bad, how much will it cost to replace it?

Also here are the battery stats I had to send them to my iPod to upload them since my phone is not working right.

My wife's N5 just started doing this over the weekend, and came here to ask the same question. Same symptoms..random shutdowns, battery life stats all over the place. One extra issue that I experienced is during the reboot, I will see the message that all the apps are updating (like what you see after upgrading to a new version of android). Once it reboots, I have lost all my saved wifi settings.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement battery? I have bought replacement batteries for laptops in the past and haven't had good luck. Typically they are as shotty as the battery I am trying to replace.

Wow! My phone does the same thing! I just didn't mention that! Sometimes when I reboot it will say "Android is Starting" and then optimizing apps under it, and it will take about 15 minutes to finish it! I also lost all my saved WiFi settings as well! It forgot my WiFi! I have to keep entering the password over and over again. It gets very annoying! I also need a good replacement battery too! I like this phone a lot, but not the battery issue!

Looks like the batteries are hit miss. I just ordered one from NewPower99, since it gives a 1 year warranty. It is supposed to arrive sometime next week. Some say the replacement process is easy, some say it is really difficult. I'll report back what I experience.

Before I crack open this phone and run the risk of damaging something important, is there any chance that a factory reset would fix the issue, or is it definitely battery related? I hate doing factory resets, since it takes a while to get all the settings and apps where they need to be. However, I'd rather do a factory reset than a battery replacement.

I just did a Factory Reset 2 days ago and it didn't fix the issue.

My nexus 5 is doing the same thing. I have tried everything to fix it. It has just started last Monday. I will be watching this thread to see if a fix is found.

Sound like a battery replacement is in order, that is what fixed mine.

Installed the replacement battery from NewPower99 yesterday. So far, so good. I haven't had a full day of use on it yet, so today we will see how it holds up.

The replacement went pretty easy. Had the most trouble removing the battery. The sticky tape was very strong. Broke one of the plastic pry tools that I had, and ended up using a small screwdriver, which was stronger.

After a few days with the new battery, things are running normally. No rapid battery loss, reboots, weird battery life readings, etc. Battery life is going well over 24 hours with light to medium use. Very happy. Thanks to B. Diddy for the help!
