phone turns off when i close the slider

So for some reason whenever I close the slider on my phone the phone instantly shuts off. Is there a setting that may be controlling this? Or is it hardware related? My phone has been working great until this point and I'd really like to avoid having to replace it. Thanks.

theres nothing you can do about it. it seems hardware related. unless you have the app "tasker" installed or something similar - any app that does actions when performing a gesture. example: you can set it up to open your music player when you plug in your headphones"

try doing a factory reset if it continues
actually try wiping your cache before doing a factory reset. because in a factory reset you lose all your apps and contacts. make sure contacts are saved on "google" not "phone" when creating contacts

Shuts off meaning it turns itself off completely?

If it instantly shuts off, it's hardware related- it's losing power. I had this issue on my palm pre- it seemed that if you 'snap' the slider shut it would jostle the battery just so that it lost contact with the battery contacts. on the pre, the paper wedge trick fixed it...

I had this problem once. I simply did a battery pull and reset it. I haven't had the problem since. I think maybe the battery wasn't seated properly.
