phone will not boot after loading super frankenclean rom

I thought I had done enough reading to have a clue what I am doing, but I am a little confused now. I didnt think I needed to install both a custom rom and custom kernel.

usually you dont , but things happen

Push THIS to your sd card

then , flash it
go back to the main menu scroll down to voodoo, then select enable lagfix
then reboot

ok...dumb question...how do I flash it? I have always seen "flash it" used on here, but I just assumed that one it was on the sd card the phone took care of the rest. I am sorry for the questions, but after the trouble I have had with this process, I am trying to be sure I know exactly what you are talking about.

When going to voodoo you have to install the voodoo rom AND the voodoo kernel. That's why I always give the advice to new rooters to stay away from voodoo until they are completely comfortable flashing different things in nonvoodoo. More rules to follow in voodoo and easier to bork your phone.

Flashing a zip file:
Zip files can be flashed for many different reasons such as applying roms, themes, kernels and applications.
Before flashing a zip file you must make sure that the file is for your particular device and will be compatible
with the current build you are on.
When flashing a zip wiping data or cache is usually not necessary, Unless you are flashing a Rom then wiping data or cache may be necessary

Kernel is packaged with ROM, there is no Voodoo ROM, it's kernel thing

DXC, the eb01 kernel came with 2.9 SC didn't it? What are you getting at?

If you don't know what the term flash it means and you thought putting it on the sd card was good enough I would definitely suggest starting with nonvoodoo. Here is some good reading if you haven't already read these:

ok, I installed the eb01_voodoo.zip file...then applied sdcard:update.zip. rebooted system, and am now at the backup assistant page. was it really that simple?

I really didnt think all I had to do was put it on my sd card, but I wasnt sure if I needed to install the zipped file because I had seen nothing about doing that in any of the threads about installing a custom rom...I had already had enough problems so thought I should get expert opinions before I proceeded. I actually already had the eb01_voodoo.zip downloaded onto my sd card but never installed it. Thanks DroidX and everyone else. I think I am fixed...finally. I was already mentally prepared to spend 500 bucks on another phone...and use the old one for experimenting until I got it fixed. Thanks again.

Sorry im going to have to change that,,,, when flashing a voodoo kernel you have to enable lagfix before reboot system,,,please boot back into recovery
go to voodoo and enable lagfix

wait did you enable lag fix?

yes I did...I think. I toggled between enable and disable a couple of times randomly, lol, when I was going through everything I could think of to do last night. I am pretty sure I left it in enable on next boot.

You don't usually, it's enabled by default and converts when you reboot

You would know if you enabled Voodoo, involves a robot voice on next boot

out of curiosity what does it do if it is not enabled? I am on to syncing my google contacts right now. Is it a performance thing or something else?

I wouldn't worry about it right now, Voodoo is for performance but it's in its infancy for froyo on this phone, not a big difference

yeah you should have have heard a womans voice,,,

do me a favor and pull down your notification bar, does it say 2.9 in the upper left hand corner under the toggles
