I have a very important photo i want to find but its not in my gallery or files
I have it as my current lock screen and home screen
I also had it favorited before but i noticed that photos keep getting deleted from my phone every now and then
Its also not in my backups
is there no way to get it back?
I saw another post similar to this at 2021 but the link that helped that post out seems to be deleted
I might have posted this in the wrong forums if so i apologies

my phone model is the pixel 7

If the picture isn't in your files or backups, unfortunately there's no easy way to recover those (you can try file recovery apps/services, but with data encryption becoming more prevalent, those are less successful every day). The wallpaper/lockscreen files don't use the actual picture and use their own files (i.e. a copy of the picture used). There are apps that can help (searching the Play Store or Google should help find a few) create a backup of said files, since they're not necessarily accessible as a picture file would be on your phone.

If pictures are being deleted from your phone, however, this is usually done by a cloud back up service (i.e. Photos), are you sure your missing pictures aren't there? Unless they're being manually deleted, chances are they're there.

Welcome to Android Central forums.

After doing a little searching it appears that B. Diddy's suggestion to use a specialized app or taking is a screenshot are the two best suggestions.

It would depend on how long ago the image was set, but checking the trash folder both in your gallery app or Google Photos app, but they usually are only there for 30 days if you don't change the default. You could also look in your file manager app. On many devices it just called Files or My Files. These file manager apps usually have the option to display files by type, so selecting photos will bring up every photo in every folder it has access to, which again should be most of them if you haven't changed any settings. Then you can go through that list to see if you can find it. If the photo had a unique name that would also be helpful in the file manager, where you can search for key words also.

Best wishes. Let us know if you find it or how you tackle the problem.
