Picture quality on Note 9 is subpar and blurry.

Picture is quality blurry on the Samsung Note 9. So on my phone screen where you see the picture before you take it the image is sharp, clear, and detailed. After the image is captured and you go into the gallery to view the image the image is sharp in some places and blurry in others. Notably, this occurs on faces, but this will also happen to my cats fur or other details say in grass. Is there a setting I can change or maybe I got a bad phone? The image quality that i have doesn't compare to that what the Samsung website claims it should be.

I'm not sure what's happening for you, but here's a pic I took with my note 9. The settings are on auto; and please note that I zoomed in because I was taking a photo of a Superb Fairy Wren, and didn't want to get too close. (yes, in those bushes there is a superb fairy wren, lol)

As you can tell, there isn't any blur, and all the branches are clear.

Posting a few examples would be helpful.

With the only aperture choices being f2.4 or f1.5 (great for low light) your depth of field is going to be very shallow. If you look close at the two photos I've posted here, I selected the top row of keys for focus in one shot and the bottom row of keys for the other. You can easily see the blur from one shot to the other. Anyway, this may not be your issue, it could be the post processing going on inside the camera to convert to jpg.20180910_072149.jpg20180910_072152.jpg

Here are my settings

Can you post an example?

Also, you're not using the full resolution. Check that to 12MP in your first screenshot.

Here's a screenshot vs photo taken. I changed the resolution already to the one with 12

I hate to be a pain, but can you mark the spots on the photo that are in issue please.

I'm looking at the pics on my phone and I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

With the amount of money we are paying for the phones we need better quality, these are how mine came out...... maybe this phone only takes good photos during the day. Even with flash on the photo came out with low quality. I switched to android and while the features on the phone is good I can definitely say I miss my iPhone camera.

iPhone is better in low light? Hmm

Almost all smartphone cameras can take great photos in daylight. I don't think the iPhone has taken better low light photos in a couple of years at least.

I was having the same problem. Every photo looked blurry, yellow tinted, weirdly lighted and videos were basically never focused unless I held the camera completely still. Super annoying since I bought this phone specifically for the "great" camera. Turns out, the camera AI that's supposed to make your pictures better is actually making it a lot worse.

Anyways, I went through each setting

1. Turn Scene Optimizer Off
The scene optimizer setting is messing with the brightness IMO

2. Turn HDR OFF
HRD was making things too contrasted most of the time

3. Turn Tracking ON
For videos especially this was helpful. No videos to upload rn.

I don't think these are conclusive of anything.... For example, you're hdr photos aren't even of an hdr scene...

Yes you may be able to find small differences between the photos but it's hardly even composed the same... When the elements in the photo are different one shot to the next, then the camera has to compensate and may come up with a different exposure setting...

Scene optimizer only has to do with color and it's... a guess at best... It's not a complete fix to your photos... I think its a white balance thing...

I'm having an issue with the zoom function. To me zoom is subpar and very pixelated whenever I use it. I'd rather take a picture without the zoom and then go in and crop it. Seems to be an issue whenever I go past I'd say 3x zoom. I'm a huge photography buff (not a professional by far but good enough to know my way around a camera) I'm quite disappointed with the zoom function of the Note 9. Anyone else have that issue with the zoom?

Zoom in any my phone's not good, but I like to know why my screen gets brighter when I open the camera and then again when I open the picture to view it ? Shouldn't it stay at the level of brightness before I open the camera app?

The Note 9 has optical zoom until 2x, then it's digital. By you going past 3x it's using crappy digital zoom, no phone in the world takes good photos using that.

both sets of yellow keys are blurry

And that is only true in good light, often times in doors the phone defaults to using the main camera and does digital zoom.
