I've been following the threads over on the android auto forum and asking questions, but that thread seems to have gone dormant over time. Hoping for more exposure here on the Galaxy S7 Edge forum.

Just had a Pioneer 4200NEX installed in 2011 Toyota Avalon last week. Android Auto works fine on the installer's HTC A9, but nothing on my S7e or the wife's S7e. Tried OEM cable direct to usb port on rear of unit, debugging on, developer mode on, change to MTP, but changes back to "charging" mode immediately. Car Play works fine on other installer's iPhone (go figure).

Why does Android make some things so difficult? (Rhetorical question...)

Anyone had success with this combo, please share you secret.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Phil.

I agree with you, but will I have to wait 18 months when I have these phones paid for to get a new phone before I can use Android Auto? I know that you were having problems with this back in March, but you have the ability to move on to another phone. As a retiree, my funds are limited. So guess I'm at the mercy of Samsung or the calendar.

Not ranting at you Phil, just ranting to the powers that be I guess.

Otherwise you have a setting or something changed..
I have same phone and have successfully used android auto on the 4200NEX

Thanks again,

Can you be a little more specific? Did you have to do something to get this phone to work? Hoping you are my answer!

Press Home center button,
Then press top right hand corner settings,
Press system settings,
3rd option is "input/output",
Then it's first one.
Do you have this option:

You ment on the head unit! Silly me, I was checking the s7 edge settings. Going to run out to car and check it now...

Yes, I have the screen up now. Device is set to "Others"
Connection is set to USB2
Android Auto is set to ON

How is your usb cord plugged into you unit? Are you direct with OEM cord or using the hub in your vehicle?

Again, thanks for at least trying to help!

:)

Direct cord, I have had some bad ones using extensions or adapters

Thanks for all you have tried to do here. I just wish we could figure this out so that I can enjoy using both the phone and the head unit.
