Pixel 2 any body switching over

It's not even in the same class as the Note, any Note, much less this awesome Note 8. Most users of the Note series are business people. If you haven't set Action Notes up on your Note 8 you just don't understand. The Note 8 with Action notes is a business tool, not just a new toy, which most cell phones are, they just aren't on the same level as the Note. With action notes while I'm on a call with a prospect I can take notes about the prospect, and the next time I talk to that number(it's tied to the number), the note icon comes up and I see for instance I talked to him about Dallas to OKC dry van loads for $750, three loads a week. His son's name is Johnny, he plays baseball and has a game on Saturday. These notes help me to turn prospects into customers, which means money, my "phone" just paid for itself many times over. '

Without a stylus it's just a phone. And maybe a camera, but Pixel 2 with less ram, cheaper, smaller, less battery life, no wireless charging, and less storage than a Note 8, but you get an Oreo. The Note 8 will get its Oreo soon enough, but it will make little to no difference in how I use the phone to run my business.

So I guess the short answer is No. ;)

I went to a pixel XL when I had to return the note 7. I'm back on the note 8 now. For users thinking about going to the xl2, what are your reasons?

Nope, sticking to the Note 8, at this point I wouldn't even have given up the S8+ for this Google mess, I mean sorry the Pixel XL...lol

With all due respect.. some of us work hard for the things we want. I'm thinking about getting the iphone 8 Plus for the heck of it (and because it seems to be better atvideo than the Note). Note will alwaysbe my primary, i love this phone, but.. i like cell phones :) i lile tech. Its kind of my thing. So i work and make the money to buy it :)

Heck yes. Do your thing man.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would. If you're the type of person who would like the Note 8 with all it's bells and whistles, what would entice you towards the Pixel?

The 3 big ones for me this year are the Note 8, the V30 and the Pixel. All look like great phones in their own right. Personally I like a lighter version of Android so I typically lean away from the Note line but there's no denying it's a beast of a phone.

I'd say I'm most interested in the V30 at this point but part of me really wants to give the Note 8 a try, see what all the fuss is about.

Well im back after jumping ship here , would still like a pure Android experience, but the N8 just does everything I need , will learn to ajust to carry size my original complaint.
I did manage to purchase for $100 less this time.

Well, it's like iOS... most of the time the updates will be stable but it can create new bugs too. The main advantage is that Apple won't let those bugs go and will release updates when necessary to fix those bugs as well as bugs you don't even know about and that's why in general, iOS will continue to have the rep of being a smooth OS over time because between yearly updates, you'll usually get at least half a dozen incremental updates throughout the year. And every iOS owner in the world will get it basically the same day it's released and not have to wait months or never when you hear Google releasing a .1 type update.

With Android or in Samsungs case it's always as smooth and responsive the day it's released... but samsung has a reputation that 6 to 12 months down the road it becomes laggy, janky, etc.

It's because over time if there are bugs to be found, you may not get a fix until next OS update a year later... nothing in between. You're favorite apps are constantly being updated and improved... but those updates can cause bugs to come up in Android and Android needs to be updated to address those bugs.

In the long run and better future proofing, you want an OS that's constantly getting updates unless you plan to set up the phone the way you want from day one and don't plan to allow any updates even from apps.

The Pixel phones may be a bit more plain jane over the Note or V30, but it also will most likely be the fastest or smoothest running Android phone out there and will most likely to faithfully continue to do so for 3 years with regular updates.
I used my Note 4 for 2.5 years nd it ran great until I traded it in. To me plain Android is pretty boring. I also don't care much for Google playing Apple's game. Not supporting expandable storage so they can increase their ASP by charging an extra $100 for a few dollars of worth of storage.

I don't know how people can just drop 800-900 bucks on a phone that's not even that different every 2 months...And why would you go for more bezels, a worse screen, and no wireless charging...AND as far as updates go, the days of bad Samsung software are over and I actually like Samsung Experience more than stock. Has all the features of Android Oreo plus more.

Yea and I thought I was bad blowing money on phones the last two years. Bezels don't bother me on the Pixel. It's the fact it's only IP67, no wireless charging, no SD.

I'd take the S8 Plus in my drawer over the Pixel XL 2. If the Pixel XL 2 was $650 then I'd say it isn't a bad buy if you're looking for a new phone but with the lack of features it's a waste of money. Besides OLED screen, there is nothing big about it.

I have a Pixel 2 XL pre-order and I'm thinking about switching to the Note 8 after reading about all the quality control issues it seems to have.

Do it. You won't be disappointed. The note 8 is so much more phone for the money

I hate how Google continue to shamelessly go with Apple's game and even try please them, it's seriously embarrassing.

Part of me doesn't trust Google due to their obsession with Apple. I feel like if Apple were to one day offer Google a chunk of cash to kill Android and just work on iOS, Google would gladly oblige.

Manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Huawei, ZTE and Xiaomi are what is carrying Android, with their Custom UIs and unique features.

Notice that most Android OEMs who are going Stock Android are dying out.

I was a big Note fan back in the day of Note 2,3 and 5, but switched to the dark side. Got Note 7, but the lag and battery life issues made me send it back, and have had 7 Plus. I've pre-ordered 2XL and it's supposed to be here today, but I'm already second-guessing myself... I know I want an Android this time around, but there are 3 things that make me pause with Note 8 over 2XL:

1. I really like Oreo and how fast 2XL is - playing with it at a store, Note 8 is just a tad slower. Not as bad as Npte 7 that I remember, but slower nonetheless.
2. Screen format. I read a lot on my phone, so the taller the screen, the less useful for me. Really don't get the trend for the super-tall phones, and Note is the worst offender.
3. Fingerprint scanner. Being on the back is already annoying for me, and again, latest Samsung phones are the worst offenders.

With 2XL you are getting the fastest Android experience, and Google take on it (not really pure Android, since they customized it for Pixel), and I'm a big fan of Google Assistant. However, lack of hardware features as compared to Note 8 and that screen...

Anyway, the struggle is real! Just in case, I have 2XL and Note 8 cases already waiting...

I use my phone for work and the s pen is just next level in terms of making my phone more of a productivity tool. If wasn't a huge digital note-taker, then I'd probably have that or an iPhone.

It's the s pen..... Takes this thing to a whole other planet.
