Pixel 2 any body switching over

I'm really torn on which phone to get. The note 8 is a beast as I've spent some time playing with it, but i know the software experience will be better on the pixel. It's basically hardware vs software at this point. The note has the best screen I've ever seen, and a camera that's just about as good as the pixel, although the pixel may get better after the visual core is activated on the soc. With the note at least I'd keep a headphone jack and sd card as well.

I figure i can always install the pixel launcher, use pixel icons and remap the bixby button to assistant and be pretty close to the 2 xl experience with the note and still have a much better screen. I'll just have to deal with the Sammy software i can't replace.

I use my phone for work and the s pen is just next level in terms of making my phone more of a productivity tool. If wasn't a huge digital note-taker, then I'd probably have that or an iPhone.

It's the s pen..... Takes this thing to a whole other planet.
Spen a MUST for me. It's a never ending note bad and you can't get that anywhere else.

SD card, samsung pay, and wireless charging multiply the awesomeness effect

Like the title says ,I jumped ship to the Pixel 2 any body else considering the same ???

I read multiple places that the p oled on the xl is trash. No thanks I've been spoiled with the n8 screen.
You can get those love wallpapers for any phone if you download and install the apk. Nice!

Wow. Shocking results.

Why is this shocking - editors are in love with Google - their articles and reviews read like they were written by the Google PR department.

Look at this quote from the Verge: "My biggest worry about the Pixel 2 XL display drama is how it will filter out to the wider public. Interested Android fans will read up on the subject and they’ll know the exact issues of a blue tint when viewed off-axis, muted colors, and potential screen burn-in, and they can then make a reasonably informed decision about whether they can live with them. (My position is that hell no, you shouldn’t accept such flaws on an $850 device.) But these things will seep out into the mainstream consciousness as well, whether through decontextualized tweets or some impassioned complaining to friends over a pumpkin spice latte."

Why does the author worry about Google's hardware reputation? Is he a stock holder in Alphabet and thus worried about his investment? The statement would make since if it was a quote from a Google Pixel PM - makes no since from a tech journal author who is suppose to be objective.

Next one of the big if only negative on on the Note 8 is the price - but the Pixel XL 2 128 is the same price as the Note 8. I would suggest this is the proper price comparison since the Pixel does not have expandable memory - yet we so no complaints from reviews about the Pixel XL 2 costs.

Since I am griping I will continue - I find it funny people are so happy about the small size of the Pixel 2 - The phone is not small - sure compared to phones with 6 inch screens it is small - but the Pixel 2 is the largest small phone I have seen. For a phone with a 5 inch screen to me the phone is massive. Looks more like a phone from 2013 than 2017.

I will say - the one big positive for the Pixels are their fast updates. If Samsung could do better with updates life would be great. I don't need to update the same day as release - but I don't think 60 days later it too much to ask. Also, Samsung should not to skip monthly security updates. Samsung an do better especially considering the price of a Note 8.

What's a pixel LOL.....big Nooooo not a hope, next device will be note 9 or if one of samsungs crazy foldable project do come out next year then maybe that

I actually just returned my Pixel 2 XL for a Note 8 (which arrives tomorrow). Too many problems with the Pixel 2 XL to trust that it's going to hold up for the long term. In addition to the reported problems, I found the screen less responsive to swiping gestures that my S7 Edge, and my Bluetooth connecting started dropping every time I touched the phone. I love the Pixel 2 XL in concept, but its execution has been less than desirable.

I am a Pixel refugee. I've owned a Pixel XL for a year now, and pre-ordered a P2 XL. I escaped all of the drama around the Pixel 2's and bought a N8 yesterday.

The N8 is in a totally different league - the design, build and that display, all put the N8 on another level any Google phone.

I couldn't be happier to have this N8, and to have nothing to do with Google hardware.

I went to the pixel 2 xl and I'm excited for actual root and roms again. The n8 was great when I had it but root for SD models brings too many limitations.

If that is your goal then Pixel is the way to go. One of the reasons I go with Samsung is I have zero interest in rooting my phone and beyond zero interest in roms.

Same here . I'm so glad I gave this n8 a try. What a beautiful phone!
The screen, just WOW. And I'm getting better battery life than I ever did with my XL. I feel this phone is worth the 950 , ever though I got it for 700 at BB!

Sorry, my sarcasm doesn't translate well I'm text. I agree, Android websites are obsessed with pixel phones. In reality they're ok, nowhere near as good as the Note 8

There's definitely some truth to this. Tech sites are just like any other site; they need to drive traffic. And nothing drives traffic like hyperbole. That said, when multiple problems are reported with a device, it's reasonable to question build quality. I was OK with the reported issues. However, as I said earlier, once I started experiencing a different sort of screen issue, as well as Bluetooth issues, I just couldn't justify staying the course.

I was considering the pixel 2 xl, but hearing about and seeing some of the display in person made me reconsider. I ended up getting a note 8 last week and it's awesome, especially the display!

I wonder how Google will address the display issues. Maybe a software update will at least allow for more vivid and deeper colors like the v30 (and note 8) since the v30 is using the same p-oled display.

I do hear and see good things about the pixel's camera and software. I do like the stock Android look and the fast interface compared to Samsung's software. But the note 8 has been really fast, though I'm unsure how fast it is compared to android Oreo on the pixel 2 xl.

Pre-ordered a Pixel 2 XL the day is was announced. Then saw the phone in person and was quite annoyed by the extreme blue tint. I still kept my order because I wanted stock Android, no bloat and quick updates and security patches. The camera was also amazing. But then I went to another Verizon store and checked out another 2 XL. More blue screen with muted colors. The Note 8 kept catching my eye, but I didn't want another Samsung and the annoying bloat that comes with it.

Then came the burn-in stories and reddit pages. Samsung offered me $300 for my LG G4, so I called Google tos ee if they'd take mine. Nope. They only take the G6.

So I canceled my pre-order and got my Note 8 on Tuesday. And with each and every no account is see of burn-in and crappy displays, I am more stoked I made the decision I did.

Now if I can only get my curved screen protector to be more responsive when I type....

I enjoyed the 2XL, but that screen just became a distraction. It was a blessing in disguise, as I'm loving the Note 8 right now. Only had it few days, but wow, what a screen, and this is my first Samsung phone ever that doesn't actually lag. I'm impressed.

Ohhhh the nasty blue tint. I couldn't do it, gave up after 45 minutes went and got a Note 8.

I hate how Google continue to shamelessly go with Apple's game and even try please them, it's seriously embarrassing.

Part of me doesn't trust Google due to their obsession with Apple. I feel like if Apple were to one day offer Google a chunk of cash to kill Android and just work on iOS, Google would gladly oblige.

Manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Huawei, ZTE and Xiaomi are what is carrying Android, with their Custom UIs and unique features.

Notice that most Android OEMs who are going Stock Android are dying out.
