Pixel 2 doesn't have notification sound with screen on

My pixel 2, on Google Fi, is showing the notification symbol and will have a ring screen but if the screen is on when it starts there will be no sound. If the screen is turned off the sound works just fine. Am I missing a setting for this?

Welcome to Android Central! Notification for what? Are you talking about incoming calls?
