Pixel 2 XL Screen Discussion

See the key word being almost. Give your phone 6-12 months then you get your standard Samsung lag, and you'll be cursing that phone. My 2 year old 6P still runs as good as the day I got it. Don't think you could say that about a 2 year old Samsung.

My one year old Note 5 was basically just as fast as a Pixel. Just change the animation speed to 0.5 or 0 and it is basically as fast. Samsung lag is always exaggerated. The Pixels are smoother, but that's about it.

Kind of like you saying the pixel is mid range, that's your opinion, and not fact.

I didn't say it was midrange. I'm saying it is close to being midrange. The Pixel advantages are almost entirely software related and can be ported to other devices. The V30 even has access to the Pixel 2's camera app.

Just as fast isn't the same thing. Samsung's lag. They all do at some point down the line, they least you could do is acknowledge that much. You come on here bashing pixels left and right, while not acknowledging issues with your own phone. Stop trolling man.

Any phone will lag under the right conditions, including Pixel phones. I am not denying anything. I admit Samsung's aren't as smooth as other phones might be, but the lag is exaggerated. A Samsung phone with animations turned off is generally quick.

Thread isn't going to turn around. Peace out ya'll, have fun storming the castle.

Has anyone seen reliable theories about the variation in blue-tinted screens? Some people swear it's only barely visible at extreme angles while others (like me) saw an extreme blue tint even at very slight angles. Could this really be QC of the panels? Or maybe ambient light conditions? I'd love to hear from someone who has tried it in sunlight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc.
(Apologies if someone already asked and I missed it during the thread derailment.)

Have you also seen a Pixel 2 with a slight blue tint? I'm curious if some people are extra sensitive to blue light.

After having my Pixel 2XL for the whole day, I'm happy to report that the screen is fine. Its way better than those Verizon demos I played with. Software is awesome and the camera is amazing. I'm happy with my purchase.

Not sure if I already said this, but I am really liking the Pixel 2 screen. I am now staring at Pixel 2, Pixel, and S6. The other two simply look weird now. I am not sure why I ever liked that cartoonish look. It only took 3 days for me to adapt to sRGB. So far the Pixel has been absolutely perfect outside of the dongle inconvenience. After years of Samsung Galaxy, I will never go back if Google continues with this formula. The phone is buttery smooth, and never gets hot.

YMMV. I see others trying to justify their own decision or bad upgrade timing, but seriously try to live with a Pixel for a day you will realize what you have been missing out. I was going to live with S6 for another year, then my daughter broke it. I got an S7 Edge but it was a lag fest. I got my original Pixel from eBay few weeks ago and I was hooked. I have NEVER bought a phone on launch day, or paid full price. The Pixel was that good, I had to buy the Pixel 2. I felt that Android finally has a phone that rivals Apple, and then some.

Hope you feel same way after a year!

You mean when my phone is still running the most current version of Android, still has an awesome camera, still has the screen which I honestly have no problems with, and still has no TouchBloat or any other OEM garbage, which is one of my top priorities in a phone?

Absolutely, I will.

IN YOUR OPINION. That may hold true for you, but others value other things as well. A phone with an amazing camera, great battery life, and premium quality is enough for some people that a decent display is good enough for them. I'm not sure what is so hard for you to understand about your likes and preferences being subjective.
That's an acceptable statement when your phone costs 400$, not 950$
