Would have liked it earlier, but makes sense. Gives iPhone time to cool off in terms of sales and hype.

This is awesome! Hopefully shortly after its launch date I can decide whether or not I want it; and then my upgrading mystery will be solved... .

That date seems late. Last year we received Marshmallow beginning of August and the phones started taking orders around the 3 week in August. So why do late this year. Could be Nougat is still a bit buggy, I know that mine is and I still haven't gotten the next update. Why so slow Google?

Both devices passed through FCC yesterday or the day before so October does seem pretty late. There is speculation that they could come early September now.

Live photos, FCC approval, Nougat release within a week. I hope/think that we may see these devices at least announced sooner.

Based on this date, I'll probably get sucked into thinking: "I wonder if they'll be discounted on Black Friday like last year?" and convince myself to wait another two months...

Can't really complain, though; but I have been stuck with my wife's old first-gen Moto X since my G3 decided to stop working a couple months ago.
