Pixel 3 Battery reports

Pixel 3 XL over 7 hours of screen on time today and 11% left, not to bad.

Not the result I expected... However, it is my third day with pixel with my sim . I will report later today

3 XL for me. I keep my screen pretty bright (I sure do like the lovely screen!) and I had to turn off the ambient screen because it seemed like it was using a LOT more battery than the 2 XL did. I'll turn the ambient screen on again in week after the adaptive battery has had time to learn the other apps first.

I am getting 5-6 hours of SoT per charge, which is what I was easily getting with the 2 XL. I'm willing to bet the adaptive battery management will improve that even further. And once I start dimming the screen just a little bit, I'm sure that will help some as well.

Always on display is on and it is set to adaptive brightness. I was indoor most of the day so the screen brightness was low.
Here are some more details on app usage.
OMG! What are your settings like. I would love to at least get 5 1/2 to 6 hrs. Right now I average 4 1/2.

3XL regular day. I will post a couple moreView attachment 292685

See, that's the thing about these type of threads. It's not just what apps you use or how bright your display is set. Probably more than those, if your incoming signals (cell, wifi, etc) are low, your phone has to work harder to keep a strong, stable connection, which drains your battery faster. I say it might affect your battery your battery more than apps or brightness because if you are in a low signal area, that will affect it all the time, not just when the app is running or when the screen is on.

So that's why you can see such varying levels of battery life for the same device, from your time of just under 4 hrs SOT to some who are getting almost 8 hrs SOT. And it could be a combination of bad signal with rogue apps and/or screen brightness, along with a myriad of other possible causes.

Very true, It will vary a lot each day but overall I think the battery life of this phone is pretty good.
It should only get better with updates.
My 2 XL was good also, I had the note 8 before that and I was disappointed with the battery life on that one.
What I like about the pixels is that if you don't use the phone much, the battery life is really good. 2 weeks ago my 2XL lasted 2 full days because I hardly used it. For some reason the Samsung phones i had would still be dead at the end of the day no matter what.

That has just been my experience.

Is anyone having Ambient Display show up with a high percentage on the battery usage? (Yes I have it enabled). Nothing like that ever showed up on my P2XL. It shows on the P3XL. Yesterday it showed up as 10 percent for me. Maybe they't include it in the battery usage stats now when they didn't before? Any ideas? I don't have now playing enabled.

Yes, I have Ambient display on and it is my top battery user. It may get turned off if that continues.

I still think it's absolutely crazy that they shrank the battery for the 3 XL over the 2 XL but if it lasts until around 10pm at night when I can plug it in then that will be fine I guess but still it kinda hurts thinking about paying more for a phone and you step down in battery. Imagine having a 4gb Ram phone for a year and then you purchase a 3gb Ram phone next, maybe it's OCD but it bothers me LOL.
