Pixel 3 or iPhone XS.

I need a file manager, torrent app, Bluetooth data transfer, and want less proprietary equipment.

I also use a Call Blacklist Pro app to block all calls except the ones on my contacts or I whitelisted. I tried finding a comparable app on iOS and there isn't one or I need to jailbreak it. Unknown numbers can't be blocked. And why is the video in a different format with iOS? I prefer mp4. I have to convert them to mp4 just to move them on my Androids.

I also can't stand iTunes. Is it still 2005? I'm Team Pixel/Android for life. I've used iOS for a decade and never had an urged to use it as a daily driver since 2013.

Welcome to AC! Just an FYI -- You don't have to use iTunes at all anymore ;).

I haven't had to use iTunes for anything. Pretty sure they removed that requirement years ago. In fact they even let you delete the iTunes app that comes installed on the iPhone.

I actually do because I don't use iCloud. Like there will be photos I want to delete on a synced album or if I want to add songs, I still need to open up iTunes.

Well yeah if you refuse to use cloud storage then you can use iTunes but all I was saying is you don't have to use iTunes. On any iOS devices I have used I haven't used iTunes since like the iPhone 4. It isn't a "requirement" that some think it still is.

Yep I can't remember when I last connected my Android or iPhone to a Mac or PC to transfer files for music or photos

The only time I connect to my Mac is when I have zero patience and connect to adb the monthly security update

Still not sure why iOS doesnt allow it (not even with Swiftkey)

Just another limitation of iOS. All the little things add up and this is why I can't go back to iPhone even though I want to at times.

But you can just use Google Photos like you can on Android so it would be the same as it is on Android/Pixel.
Can you make albums in Google Photos? Wouldn't pics still be on camera roll, (which wouldn't bother me)?

why? the why is what helps me decide. like I don't care about imessage if that's your reason

I'd like to know some more specifics as well. I'm still on the fence between iPhone Xs and Pixel 3. Google is not helping me out this time around lol.

Usually I'm an instant hell no to iOS, but since playing around with my wife's xs it's really got me thinking of switching.

I'd miss the LED, AOD and customization that my S8 has, but I think I'd stand to gain the best gesture navigation in Mobile, reliability (can't say the Pixel is the most reliable phone right now), polish, still a great photo experience, better battery life, and I can still access my Google ecosystem minus GA (but I'll keep a backup Android phone for that).

I've never used an iPhone before, but was planning on giving it a try right before they got caught throttling their older phones..... part of the reason I wanted to try them was because of how long they supposedly supported their devices. Throttlegate changed my opinion on that.

Since then I've watched how shady, underhanded, and greedy Apple is and it sickens me. I know other corporations can be similar, but Apple takes it to an insultingly ridiculous level. Another company that thinks they've gotten so big they can do literally anything they want, and we'll still make them richer by giving them our hard earned money. They probably think they could crap on a plate, stick an Apple symbol on it, call it a steak dinner, charge a fortune for it, and make a killing. That's basically the message they're sending out to us.

Fortunately their sales have been steadily dropping over the last 2+ years, and the only way they're able to show a profit is by raising their prices substantially, and including less accessories in the box ( selling phones A la carte ) which is not a sustainable business model. There's only so long people are going to pay over $1500 after taxes for a phone that costs $470 to make and doesn't even come with the proper charger......or any other iPhone with that same ratio. Or even any other Apple product with the same ratio.

Apple really pissed people off by announcing at their last earnings call that they'll no longer disclose individual sales numbers for their products like iPhones..... I wonder why that is? lol

It's going to be fun watching them eat more and more humble pie ( pun intended ) as the next couple of years roll on.

Samsung's in a similar boat with slowing sales, but their president has come out and said they realize their prices have become higher than the average consumer is willing to pay, and are going to focus more on the mid-range market.... even bringing new features to mid-range phones before the flagships. Now that's a company showing respect for the consumer :-D

Unfortunately other companies like Google are trying to follow Apple and Samsung down the "rape the consumer because we can" path, and I think they're going to learn the same lesson Apple and Samsung have learned..... especially Google, the pixel 3 just isn't worth the asking price. I'll be sticking with pixels, but I won't be paying the retail price.

One thing I absolutely hate is Google Play Podcasts don't delete themselves when I'm done listening. Podcast app on iOS does, huge benefit for a podcaster. I checked GP and couldn't find anything that does it...super annoying

I highly highly highly suggest using Pockcasts. I use it on Android or iOS (bought on both). Devs are on top of their app, have funny app update notes usually, and great customization on your podcasts. Fully worth every penny.

Re: Placeholder

So I can download any podcasts I could from google play music? Will it autodelete old played podcasts?

If you mean by deleting old ones such as if you download them to your phone -- yep. I download the latest episodes and after listening it clears them and deletes the download.

This is me on iOS right now but the same option is on Android.
