Pixel 3 XL vs Oneplus 6T

Roger that. The launch event was interesting, but I kept wondering who's a good user case for this phone...

Sidenote: Apparently, I misspelled FLAGSHIP in my previous post... so Edit City there. :)

Lol didn't see the typo....I like the price and what you get for it ..

Google is the best android phone, from pixel 1, 2 and latest 3, amazing phone, i have pixel 2 xl, and hope will replace to pixel 3 new one

Thought the most interesting, and oddest, thing at the OnePlus event was the Qualcomm guy coming out in a '5G is coming' T-shirt and spending part of his time touting that 5G is coming soon in 2019. While word on the street is 1+ intends to get in front on 5G they seemingly had this guy on stage giving a good reason not to buy the 6T phone they were promoting at the event. Weird. Made me really want a Pixel 4 or 1+7 with 5G instead of either of these phones on offer now.

Didn't watch the event, but yeah that is weird. Lol

I think anyone who doesn't think a phone is worth a thousand to 1500 bucks, and realizes they can get most of the same tech for a half to a third the price will be their market. And with the ridiculous price hikes this year, if they do things right they could be a big seller ;-)

pixel 3 ofc. the camera is a real beast especially when using night sight mode on lowlight.

Pixel 3 XL has better camera, better security, better company, better display, better camera, better software, HDR video support, unlimited photos, works on all carriers, water resistance, wireless charging, USB C power delivery, USB 3.1 instead of 2.0, rear FPS if you want that, etc, etc.

OP6T has a design that people like better, more RAM (not necessarily a good thing, but people tend to put it in the "pro" column), better price tag, in display FPS if you want that.

Both have the same SoC, no headphone jack, very similar dimensions, etc.

The question of "which is a better phone" is obvious and very one sided. The question of which is a better value, not quite as easy. For me personally, since OnePlus can't be trusted as a company, there's no price tag that would bring their value over the top of the Pixel 3 XL. That said, a lot of people don't care and are fixated on the price tag. If that's the case, then are all the things that are better on the Pixel 3 XL worth $420? To me, yes. To you? I don't know.

It's just amazing the amount of hate Pixel 3 getting on YouTube, blogs and Twitter etc. OnePlus was called flagship killer before but now YouTube videos are OnePlus 6T - The Pixel killer

Yeah, I don't think its a Pixel killer. However, I think there are some things it does better and if nothing else I like that at least they give you a choice and some customization options that Google does not. The Pixel 3 camera will be better, but in my time with the Pixel 2 I've really gotten a bit of a strong arm feeling in how Google wants their device to look and be used and that frankly has turned me off a bit especially for the prices they are asking. Not saying they aren't justified in that, just for me, its a hard sell as is most of these devices pushing the $1000 mark.

Yeah I'm a fan of one plus , don't know what they shooting for but they are doing a lot right and didn't increase the price and added a bigger battery . They now join American carrier and also will work on Verizon. Will see how far they will go.

I won't upgrade to the T because I like the 6 maybe the 7

Make a comparison if they were both beers

thanks for all the replies, I think the slower in display fingerprint sensor as described on the AC podcast killed it for me

So here's my take on this discussion. I have a Google pixel 2 XL and my wife has a OnePlus 6 (not T). I bought the 2 XL because of camera, but since there has been software updates and even XDA developers making it possible to have better cameras on other phones, Google pixel 3 is looking like it's going to have a tough time. My pixel does not keep apps open and hates multitasking, has much less options for gestures and shortcuts, and I love how the OnePlus 6 has the sound, silent, and vibrate slider (like the iPhone, but add a vibrate to that). The notch is also almost non existent cuz you can turn on or off the notch in settings and pick which apps you will allow the notch to be on (default is off on all apps). Sure the screen is fhd+ and not QHD but that is insignificant if you compare the two. The OnePlus also gets brighter, battery lasts longer, UI is smoother AND faster (and I have mine set to .5 animations), it also charges insanely fast. Comparing the two is like a beast (OnePlus) vs. software AI (which OnePlus is catching up to). Google does have unlimited photos (which is a great point btw), the 3 has wireless charging (also great), but doesn't really work with other fast chargers???, Sure it has IP rating, but the OnePlus can get wet (tests on youtube, you can look it up, it's also on their website as splashproof). I would prefer dash charging any day because it's ridiculously fast, OnePlus also has THE best UI I have ever tried (tried iPhones, Samsung, Nova launcher, LG, sadnly no chinese, HTC. It is soooo goooooooooddddd). And UI experience IMO is very important, and as an Android phone, so is multi tasking, which all Google pixels suck at. I can manage 3 windows/apps before having to relaunch an app on my pixel, I've tested the OnePlus 6, kepps apps all open, fast, smooth, worry free.

So on the upside to Google pixel 3, it has that wide angle selfie lens, the top notch picture selection, great wireless charging (with the Google pixel stand), unlimited photo storage, front firing speakers, hopefully the Google AI auto answering and setting appointments (I really hope this happens sooner than later). That's about all I can think of that the pixel would be different from the OnePlus 6t or any other phones.

TL:DR OnePlus is faster and smoother and keeps apps open.

I agree ..
I never thought anything would be smoother then pixel line until 1+6 came along I was blown away by it's UI, and speed with no hiccups. Its nice customization in key area was very good . People need to try it to believe it .

The way I look at it is that the 6t on T-MO is about a $300 gamble if you have an eligible phone to trade in (which I do). Personally, I feel underwhelmed by the Pixel 3, so I'll try the 6t for the year and put myself in position for a Pixel 4 next year.

Try it out in the store first before you commit.

Edit :. The other thing is you have to use the one plus screen protector it might not work with others for in display finger sensor...which by the way I don't care for any phone with it.
