Pixel 6 Fingerprint scanner not working with apps?

I've got exactly the same problem. Fingerprint works 'fine' to get me into the Pixel 6 but fails on any app that uses fingerprint authentication (banking apps). Clueless as to what has changed in my setup bar security patches.

I've logged a support query through my Google 1 subscription. Build number is SP2A.220305.013.A3. Security update was 5th March but the issue only started to appear about 3 days ago.

I may have just chanced on a workaround. Try placing your finger higher than the fingerprint picture. It 'works' for me. Come to think of it on my phone the fingerprint overlay presented by the apps seems to be condensed compared to the overlay presented at phone logon. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried that a few days ago. When I place my finger directly on the fingerprint logo, nothing happens. When I raise my finger upward, I receive a red "!" symbol over the fingerprint sign. Let's hope for the April update. I'm using the factory reset as a last resort. I worry about losing data/information if I do a full reset.

Me too. I had the same as you with the red '!' symbol bit moving my finger even higher up the screen 'fixed' it for me. Will let you know if I get anything from Google 1 support.

As Bob Segar would say, everything is "still the same". I quit trying to sign on to my apps using biometric fingerprints. Still do not feel confident in doing the factory reset.

A banking app gave me a problem. It took several tries to recognize my fingerprint. After that first incident, it happened again the next day. However, in trying to access the app, I mistakenly placed my fingerprint above the reader, BAM, I was in. Just like Jerry 5 noted above.

Glad you figured out a solution! Fingerprint sensors can be so finicky. It's unfortunate that we need to figure out these tips and tricks to make things go smoother!

My fingerprint sensor stopped working for apps recently, and I had also recently enabled Smart Lock for my home location. I removed the Smart Lock, reset my P6P, and now the finger print sensor shows up and is working again. I'm trying to duplicate - might take some time. I've re-enabled Smart Lock for my home location, and my fingerprint sensor is working with my banking app for now. I'll leave Smart Lock on, see if it continues to work. May have to leave home, come back, see if that causes any issues, or if the problem shows up tomorrow. I'll post my findings....

OK, a day later with Smart Lock on, and finger print scan to open apps is still working fine.

As well as using the Pixel 6 fingerprint scanner to open my phone, I had two app (LastPass and Toyota apps) that had a biometric in their apps that allowed me to open them using the phone's fingerprint scanner info. When I tried yesterday, neither app will open using their fingerprint biometric (while the phone still opens using the fingerprint scanner). My last update was March 5th and the app sign-on was working after the update. Does anyone have any idea how to remedy this situation?

I tried all of the fixes mentioned here and none of them worked. I came across a fix that suggested to start the phone in recovery mode and clear the cache. I actually just had to start the phone in recovery mode and then restart it and the biometrics were working again.
