Pixel 6 (or Pro) vs S22 Ultra

Congratulations on the arrival of your S22 Ultra!!

Last Friday I decided that in order to give the S22U a fair shake, I had to stop comparing it to my 6 Pro and give the S22U my full attention. So, my 6 Pro has been powered off and sitting in a draw since then. I have to say I've been rather enjoying the S22 Ultra after doing this. Few tweaks here and there and I can honestly say there's not much I find myself missing about the 6 Pro. Is the S22U perfect? Of course not! But the more I use it the more I am finding it does a lot of things better than the 6 Pro does.

I think after today the "return" button on my S22U order will disappear and I do not foresee myself using it.

Thank ya! And, well said on your comparison!

I'm definitely going to give it a fair shake, and I already know I'll be happy with both. One thing I've missed with having a Sammy is customization, so my phone is already getting an "Ellen DeGeneres" make over...

I'll be testing the camera on my S22U today. Really hoping for good shutter speed on my photos, so we'll see.

Awesome man happy to see that you got the phone start enjoying it and give it a good run... I'm keeping my sim and this one for the rest of the month and I'm only using the pixel sometimes in the evening..

I was able to get a hold of the S22 U yesterday and honestly, I don't care for photos I do admit I do like their video portrait focus blur effect which I wish Pixel has on their videos. I find their photos were a bit washed over-saturated. The only bonus of the Samsung is the wider ultra-wide I wish Google didn't cheap out on that. I also hate the one UI not a big fan of it.

In general use there is nothing I miss about my P6 Pro but whilst the camera is good on the S22U it is better on the Pixel (IMO) and that is the only reason I have not eBayed the Pixel yet!

Maximum procrastination right now here!

Here is an example of why I am still hesitating in selling the Pixel. Dog was barely moving (he was having a chew) but these 3 came out pretty bad, I just know that the Pixel or iPhone would have done better here.

What a great thread -- especially since I too may be in the Pixel 6/7 vs S22 dilemma. Keep the responses coming, please! :)

I switched back to P6 Pro this morning (shortly after posting photos above) and it was all fine until 5 minutes ago the FPS just refused to recognise my thumb, completely out of the blue and ended up asking for my pin. Has been pretty bad since too, circa 20-30% hit rate.

I have probably washed my hands too many times today and my thumbs are dry, very silly of me!

Just loaded the latest Beta and threw the SIM back in my P6P ... Let's see what this bad boy got!

Much to my surprise I'm already back on the S22U. There's just so much it does that I've already gotten used to and found myself missing ... I threw my SIM back in it first thing this morning.

Like? I need details. I grabbed a P6P this week and other than the camera I'm just not sold. I've been torn between the 2 phones and went with the pixel but still not sure.

* Beautiful, bright screen
* Auto brightness that doesn't suck
* Face unlock (which is crazy stupid fast)
* Slightly faster FPS with less frequent fail rate. Even though I don't have many issues with my P6P, there's a noticeable difference
* More customizable AOD (I like the "show for new notifications" option)
* I prefer the quick tile layout on the S22U ... Much rather the smaller tiles where I have 6 options on 1st pulldown compared to only 4 huge tiles
* Bixby Routines. I know folks trash Bixby, but Routines is pretty handy (I know there's 3rd party apps where I can accomplish the same things, and likely more, but I'm lazy LOL Having it baked in is just easier)
* S Pen ... Even though I am not a huge user of it, it is nice to have for editing pics, signing documents, marking up screenshots, etc
* Ridiculously fast charging! Using the 30w charger I got when I grabbed the P6P, it charges the S22U incredibly fast. If I'm low I can throw it on the charger for 15-30 minutes or so and it'll top it off plenty
* Better integration with my Galaxy Watch
* Edge panel for having a set of apps quickly open in split view
* The slightly wider form factor makes typing easier for me
* While I do find the camera on the P6P is better, I love all the options and versatility of the Samsung camera. It's really fun to play with some of the features.
* One hand operation + from Good Lock. Love it because I can have navigation buttons and swipe gestures enabled at the same time. Tried some 3rd party apps on my P6P to accomplish this and while they work they pale in comparison
* Built-in double tap to wake and double tap to sleep that works on the lock screen
* The Lock screen music widget

That's about all I can think of ATM

Forgot one - scrolling! While both are very smooth, there's something about the scrolling on the S22U I can only describe as Apple-ish. Is just SO smooth and buttery!

Keep us posted on what happens! You also bring up a very good point about the handwashing.

I'm a preschool teacher and I'm *always* washing my hands. I wonder if my Pixel 5's FPS issues (and I don't have many), which often happen at work, are because my hands are like hamburger meat from handwashing over and over and over again! Ugh.

Like YankInDaSouth I switched back to the S22U this morning. I think I have finally decided to sell the Pixel.

Is the camera quality very different? Part of me wants to swap it. Part of me says keep the pixel because the camera is amazing. Part of me says keep it because I've told my husband for years that his Samsung sucks.

It depends on what you're shooting and where. Indoor shots of people and pets goes to Pixel. Outdoor/well lit shots are very comparable

I know you and I have discussed this before, but this is what makes me happy with my P6. Can't see myself back with Samsung until this changes (or my kids get old enough to where it doesn't matter as much).
