Pixel 8

Like to keep up a phone at least 2 years and still pretty happy with my 7. Would love to see alittle better battery life and brighter screen on the 8's.

Still very happy with my P6P and not sure the 8 pro will offer that many improvements for my usage. If there's an excellent trade in given for my 6 pro, then I might bite.
I have the P6P too and I think I'm waiting for the Pixel 9

Will give more thought to upgrading than I have in the past. My phone use is down, a few call s a month, mostly texts. I still have a regular 7 I got for next to nothing in a deal with Best Buy last year. It sits in the cupboard except when I update it. My daily drive is a 7 Pro, not very thrilled with it.

Will have to see what BB offers this year. For some undiscoverable reason, I am not able to buy from the Google store, haven't for a few years now.

When all is said and done, I'll do what 'Stang tells me to do.

I'm not in the market for a new phone (my Pixel 7 is only six months old), but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for early October! I love this time of year -- Fall, Thanksgiving (Canadian), and Pixel launch!

Going forward from 2025 on, from what I understand Google won't be using a modified Samsung Exynos chip, they're going to have custom chips produced directly from the Taiwanese chip maker TSMC. That should be a big step up for the Pixels 👍

That's assuming google is actually going to be good at mobile chip design. I predict the in-house tensor will actually be a worse SoC than the competing Exynos.

It also assumes that by 2025 TSMC won't be just a glorified production arm of Apple, with 100% of their high end/low nanometre production being devoted to Apple.

You make a good point, I was wondering that myself lol. I would most likely stay away from the first generation of their own custom designed chipset, I can imagine how buggy that could possibly be 😯

But I think down the road it could develop into a good thing 😉

With all the patching, so far I haven't had any real issues with my P6Pro 👍 I was especially surprised at how little it heated up under load, like major updates, compared to my Flip 3 updating, which got so hot I gave it a break just to be sure and avoid any heat related throttling or glitches.

I expected to be able to fry an egg on the 6 Pro's Teflon slick back from what I've read, but alas, no egg breakfast for me lol.

A remarkably cynical observation on your part, and I reject that you came up with it before I did. Let's be friends.
