Pixel Bluetooth issues

Bluetooth, WiFi, and LTE connectivity are handled by Qualcomm through their Snapdragon 821 chip. It could be a firmware issue. Have you tried other phones did you say, with your specific vehicle?

Yep, iPhone, Note 5 and Note 7 no issues.

Greetings,

Thought I would start a new thread specifically about Bluetooth if anybody is having issues...

In my case I am unable to totally pair my Pixel to my 2016 Honda Pilot infotainment system. The device will pair and seem to be connected as I can stream music from my device. However, if somebody sends me a text the Pilot does not acknowledge it. If somebody calls, the Pilot touchscreen will start to ring and if I tap on Answer call, it acts like it answers but it actually doesn't. My phone keeps ringing and I have to answer the call and talk on my phone. Sometimes the car will still think it's in a call even when I tap the hang up button on the touchscreen in the car.

It was mentioned in the gripes thread that it could be an issue with how Google does Bluetooth. If a Bluetooth headset is connected to your phone when you try to connect your phone to the vehicle, it won't work because Google's Bluetooth only allows one device. In my case I have a both a Gear Live smartwatch (android wear) and the Gear Fit 2.. yes, I'm a geek. If I disconnect both of them, then connect my phone I actually got it to work once, but even then when I hung up on the car touchscreen, it still thought it was connected. I assume it's the Android Wear device since that has a mic in it....

In the past I've always had an iPhone or Galaxy devices and they have never had any issues with any car systems. It's not quite to deal breaker status yet, but thought I'd at least start a thread about it in case others run into similar issues.

I am having the same issue with my Chevy Captiva, I just switched over to the pixel and it says that it is connected but anytime I try to call it goes through the phone instead of the car. I also have the Fitbit charge 2. The Bluetooth works fine with the pixel in my wife's Mazda 6. She does not have anything else hooked up. I hope the fix it soon, very frustrating.

Same thing in my Silverado. Says connected but won't use the trucks Bluetooth. All other phones work fine (iOS and Android).

Yes...can confirm the Silverado. I've been forced at work to move off of Pixels to the Moto Z Force Droid for my Android users due to the Bluetooth Problems. :(

Fords seem to have some other issues and there is a thread somewhere on that. For the others like me, one option may be to side-load 7.0. There were some reports that bluetooth connections had worked fine on that version. For my part, I'll just wait for the fix, it isn't that critical to me.

Just got my Pixel last night. I connected with my car's (Lexus) bluetooth. It connected fine. It took some extra time to get it connected to media, so it plays audio books, but it always does for some reason...even with my Galaxies that I've had. This morning when I left for work, it still connected to my Galaxy S7 Edge first (keeping both til I decide which one I want), but connected to the Pixel with no problem when I switched them. However, I didn't (obviously) try to text anyone during my drive, and didn't receive any texts, so I still don't know if I'll lose the connection if I receive a text or a call.

On 13, Toyota Highlander Using Pixel from last 6 days. Only frustrating part is Bluetooth disconnecting for only Outgoing new calls when dialed through the touch pad. Historical calls bluetooth one can dial through Car's button and it work. I have talked with multiple times with Google support, reset, Safe mode, Nothing able to resolve. Only workaround I found was switch to speaker and then connect back to Bluetooth then it starts working again but it is Safety issue so not worth it. Thinking about getting Samsung S7 edge. Google send an email telling me there engineers are looking but not sure I should wait or get new S7 as I am under 14 day window from Verizon.. Any suggestions ?

My new pixel XL is not working with my Honda pilot 2016 either. I'm thinking of returning the pixel. Same exact problem at the thread started. I wasn't able to do the data transfer to get my contacts messages or anything else off of my iPhone 6 as Google advertised. Big disappointment. I was so excited about this phone initially

I made the tough decision last week and went with the Moto Z Force Droid...

I haven't had any issues with my Pixel connecting to/working with any Bluetooth devices. I have a 2015 Mini Cooper.

There is no Bluetooth handoff. Most people apparently do not understand what that means but it does not work on the Pixels. Period. Google is aware, for what it's worth.

2012 Toyota Camry here. Similar problems to what I'm seeing everywhere else. It's becoming a deal killer for me at this point. Some trips it'll work fine, then others it freezes and I can't even reconnect it until I turn the car off then back on. It's inconsistent as to what causes it to freeze - sometimes it's a text, sometimes it's on a call, and once or twice it's been while switching songs using GPM. The Pixel is nice, but I'm still within my return period and about to go exchange it back for the S7 I had before (and traded in). Sure the UI was slower and it won't be updated as much. But it worked perfectly, and had other strengths anyway... It's the little things. I know Google tried to pay attention to the little things with the Pixel, but they're still missing the mark. I won't go into other "little thing" issues I'm having on the Pixel as this isn't the thread for it. #disappointed

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot and have similar issues with the phone's Bluetooth. Media streaming like Pandora works great but can't make nor receive calls through the car's audio system. I had a Note 3 and the phone's Bluetooth worked great to make and receive calls. I hope Google resolves this soon as I rely on Bluetooth a lot to drive safely while picking up calls.

Well I have a 2014 Kia Forte. This device was running fine on bt yesterday and today it stopped working.

The update to 7.1.1 fixed my issues!
My Pixel wouldn't stay connected to my 2012 GMC Sierra. It works now!

Thanks for the update. My Silverado is the same generation as your Sierra so I will switch back to my Pixel and give it a try now that I've installed the update.
