Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Wow good thing I held off on getting the Pixel.

The thing is that this is not a consistent as many people have problems with signal and dropped calls etc, many don't. It comes down to are you willing to take the chance until Google comes up with and releases a fix for all of this

Personally. I can't. I need my phone to work.

When the iPhone 7 had connectivity and 4G lite issues it took 2 months before the were able to patch it. Maybe we will be lucky and not have to wait that long. I know we all need our phones to work as I am not happy about this entire situation either. I did try my wi-fi calling features out tonight as I am on Verizon and I did not encounter any problems. At least I have that.

I do have extremely good wi-fi

I am with US Cellular and have had no issues with dropped calls. The Pixel is much batter than my previous moto x pure.

Also held off, same reason.
.

Stick with your HTC 10. That was the phone I was originally going to get before the pixel swayed me. At one point I even had both phones in my hands at Verizon and was seriously contemplating

For those of us who waited awhile before jumping onboard the pixel train the answer is easy. hell no. This is iPhone 7 replayed , it's weirdly disturbing. Thats 2 devices I almost bought before I realized there was a possible issue with signal and drops. Both Verizon. Not sure it's just a coincidence, but maybe some network thing, at least that's what Apple was blaming it on. Who the heck knows, just glad I hesitated on both of these purchases. Learning from these, don't jump to quick, pays to step back for awhile and check forums. No more beta testing for me if I can help it. ;)

So.... Do you wanna buy a pixel cheap?

Held off on the 10 as well. Only got it 3 months ago. Swappa deal. Nice, nice device. Are you in any sort of return period for the pixel? Pick up a 10 on Swappa. Good deals there.

Can't return it as it's my second one. Got both of them from 2 different Verizon stores. Didn't want to go back to the store I originally purchased it from because of the issue with my first one. Maybe this week they will announce something or I will just wake up and it will magically be fixed

In cell network setting, change from global to LTE/CDMA. I know on other Verizon phones this is the best setting to use. I just ordered my Pixel XL, so won't be getting it for at least a month. So not sure the choices in that screen on the Pixel.

Already did that. That is the first thing I check for when setting up a new cell phone. I noticed that global must be the default setting as I had to change it on my first pixel and my replacement. No difference in anything. Thanks for the input though

Depends from person to person. He has experienced that whereas all my features (VoLTE, wifi, etc.) all work and signal holds just like my other phones.

Its not black-and-white, I think something special is going on in Toronto (427/dvp/401/qew highways all had drops). I have screenshots with working connections on bands 2,4,5,7,13,17 however. Two SIMs tested, Virgin Mobile (Bell), and Public Mobile (Telus, aka Bell).

Outside of TO is anyone having 100%->0% signal drops in Ontario?

BAND 4 is great in Burlington (55/35mbit down/up).

Band 4 (LTE+) in Toronto works too sometimes:

542875 cell 41 (Band 2) dropped, same tower (cell 92, Band 7) working seconds prior.

542273 cell 42 (Band 4) droppped:

I had a bunch of drops which had no tower information, eg:
cell 138373162 UNKNOWN 0db

I suggest everyone get the CellMapper app and provide SSs of dropped towers to correlate what is happening better.

On a positive note, my wifi connects at 866Mbit and transfers very fast :)

I don't see how it can be just a Verizon thing when the three phones I had before it didn't have the problem.

I honestly don't believe it's a Verizon issue. Or any carrier at that matter. It's a software and/or hardware issue

I would say software since some report getting another phone and still having it. It may be something in the software with Verizon itself. I can't say since I use T-Mobile and see no issue. I would have to get a Verizon SIM and test it in my phone to see if the drops / signal issues occur.

I see your point, but I am thinking it might be software but not related to Verizon as many people with other carriers in South American countries and other places without Verizon are dealing with it to. My bets are still on Nougat
