Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

New factory image on the Pixel software site. May just fix European issues with band 4. Dunno if it helps us. NMF26Q. Some on Verizon are testing it anyway.

Looks like there's an OTA listed for NMF26Q as well. I wonder if that means it'll get pushed out automatically?

If there was or is and it fixes my issues, that would be the best Christmas Present in the world

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

Side loaded it. Seems to be a little faster running than last week's O.

I wonder if your phone is on the wrong radio band?
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone information
Three dots menu
Radio band
Choose Cellular 800
I also set my settings to LTE/CDMA Auto PRL
Turn radio off and back on
I assume though you have already tried this. This though is what stopped my hollow bar, it was set to the wrong radio band. I learned about this cuz my stupid video calling provision keeps turning off, and I have to keep going into this menu to turn it back on. Grrdd

Thanks Matty already did all of what is listed
According to a thread on Google Forums, Google is telling the OP that the hollow bar issue is fixed. And if they are still having connectivity issues, they need to do a warranty exchange. It's a hardware issue.

Well, I just got my Pixel XL 128 and either got lucky, or a newer build, or 7.1.1 fixed signal issues. I have the Signal Check app and did extensive comparisons with the Pixel versus my old Droid Turbo at 7 different locations at my house and at work. The day before I received the Pixel I made notes about signal strength on the Turbo, including the band I was on to make sure it was apples to apples. My Pixel has almost exactly the same signal on the same bands as my Turbo, and hardly ever more than a plus or minus 2db difference. The only difference is the Pixel seems to connect to additional bands that the Turbo didn't, such as LTE 1900, band 2. I'm not sure, but maybe the Turbo didn't receive that band. Very happy about having a dependable signal and no dropped calls.

Did my second exchange today as I encountered a new issue of the other party I was speaking to not being able to hear me. This had been occurring since Friday. Sales associate at Verizon was using a pixel that was showing -76dmb while mine was showing -106dbm and I was standing right next to him. He also informed me that it was a hardware issue. New phone is being sent to me on Tues and he told me if this one isn't much better they would keep sending it back until I receive a good unit. He also said it would not be a refurb as they are not offering refurbished replacements yet since it hasn't't been out that long.

Hopefully I will be a happy camper come Tues. He said no software issue for me would change anything significantly as I just have a bad unit

My Pixel has just a couple of dBm just a couple of dBm less signal strength than my Moto XPE did as well.

Just out of being curious Matty032 what are the numbers you get from the Pixel?

At home with all the leaves off the trees, best I get is -105dbm. I don't know about the summer yet, but the Moto would would hover around -120dbm with the leaves out in full force. So I assume the Pixel will be worse. But at -120dbm you pretty much have no signal. The best I have seen on the Pixel with a tower in sight was -95dbm. I also believe the bars are off. Even at full signal, the bars never register as full. Only 3/4's full. So, with leaves off at home average is -110dbm, at work, -95-110dbm. I wasn't going to get a phone till next year. But, the signal at my home has gotten so bad in the summer, since VZW has been moving the antennas off the towers to the cities for Advanced LTE. I had to have WiFi calling. The Moto XPE doesn't have WiFi calling. So I needed a new phone and the Pixel was it.

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

No dropped calls since before the update. After I set the radio band to Cellular 800. I believe my issue was the phone was not provisioned properly for whatever reason. I originally had problems with the WiFi calling as well. It still wanted cell signal for the WiFi calling. That issue also cleared up after setting the radio band properly. It seems strange that fixed my issue, others were fixed with the December update, and still others were fixed only with a whole new phone.

No dropped calls but still no consistent lte connection either. It does connect sometimes, but also disappears randomly.

I will see if the replacement I am getting tomorrow is any better. They already sent me my tracking information. Kinda glad that I am going to have both units side by side, to be able to see if there is any difference or significant difference between the 2 phones. Hopefully the new one will give me no bars dropping out or the other person not being able to hear me as well as an improved signal. At this point I will take anything I could get if there is a chance it will work better for me
