Using my phone without incident since release date. I even created a previous topic saying I was sending the pixel back and ordering the V20. I used the two side by side for about a week and returned the V20.

Well, today after taking a video of my dog and playing it back the screen went black and I'm unable to power back on or shut off...it's just black. Won't receive calls or anything. Tried numerous ways with Google support to reset the phone and nothing will happen. Never been dropped, no water damage etc. Mint condition phone.

Google wanted to send me a refurbished model and I said no. I just spent around a thousand dollars getting this phone. I typically get about 2 new flagship phones a year. If I try to resell a refurbished phone that doesn't match the IMEI of the box I'm going to lose even more money than typical depreciation.

I went ahead and ordered the V20 even though the picture quality sucks when you enlarge a picture you've already taken.

I don't understand can't you get refund the phone just came out and there trying to give a refurb that's bull **** this phone was over priced you really need to Escalate this

I'm glad they're willing to refund, but so sorry to hear your phone died.

Take the refund

Done... Shipping it back tomorrow. I would have had a really hard time even accepting a brand new one considering the fact that it died like it did. I know stuff happens but... I have always praised the pixel to everyone regarding the smoothness of operation and never needing to restart it due to slowing down. Keep in mind I restart my phone at least once every day regardless of how it's running.

Moral to my story... If you own the pixel XL , know that your phone is superior to the V20...I just can't stand getting a replacement phone.

I'm not so sure about the IMEI argument. I've sold several refurbs on eBay without issue and have always received top dollar. Although, it's odd that they'd offer you a refurb when they were willing to give you a refund.

So why would you settle for a 2nd best phone from the Pixel XL? I know that if I spent the money for a Pixel and had to settle for less? I would NOT want to do that.... Why a V20? .......

How is that? Pixel XL cost more, no IR blaster, removable battery, or SD card slot and no always on.

Good choice man since you felt this was the right one. V20 is a great device of course and will perform just about the same as the Pixel. Good luck with the v20

Damn. I'm glad you're able to get a refund.

Meanwhile, I still have an LG G4 that's dead. Unable to fix it without spending upwards of $200 or getting part of what I paid back.

I have owned a V20 for 6 weeks now. The Pixel has a better camera from what I have read. Every "flagship" phone has its positives and negatives..... It all comes down to our own personal needs

Well,

You are not the first that this happened to. I know at least one other member here had to return the Pixel XL for nearly the same reason. The part I don't get though is, why would they not be willing to give you a brand new phone, if they were willing to give you a full refund??

There are probably no brand new ones to give at the moment. They are now sold out in Canada as well.

Yeah I asked for a new one and they couldn't promise me a date. It was bittersweet sending the V20 back the first time. I already miss some things about the pixel XL.

Refurbished phones are usually better than new ones, since they've been manually tested and fully checked out.
