Pixel XL signal strength

Is there any kind of pattern regarding this signal issue as to whether or not your phone came from Verizon or Google? And is it being used on Verizon mainly? Verizon recently Had issues with the iPhone 7 and poor signal and dropped calls. Wondering if it's more Verizon then the pixel.

I am verizon and in whats suppose to be a urban/good area. We switched from sprint to verizon probably 6 years ago and were happy to pay more so the phones we owned would work. We also have 6 people on our account. 6 people over 6 years probably 15 or more phones. I have had the 5 phones listed before over the last month and my pixel xl 128 is by far the worst. Signal wise, because other then that its a great phone. Not as good as my note 7 but a great phone.

Just goes to show how area + networks affect people differently. As I said I get the same everywhere I go (work desk, home, out w/ friends, etc.) that I did with my Note 7. Always within that 1-3 range.

My note 7 worked, no drops or total call issues, but it wasnt the best signal phone either. Honestly my wifes old iphone 5s was perfect. I used it from 10-14 thru 10-19 ( or bye bye and cry n7 and pixel signal -xl). No wifi callling or anything else as far as I know and it worked in my house or anywhere else ( some building I go into loose signal). I still hate iphones and would rather buy and use soup cans and string.

I live in the sticks. I have the Moto XPE. I had moderate LTE with VZW at my domicile. Since the early part of summer however, they have been moving antenna's from off rural towers into the cities for advanced LTE. My signal went from -95 to -116, or worse. People can't hear me, dropped calls. etc. The Moto XPE does not have WiFi calling. I am actually getting the Pixel a year early for the WiFi calling. Due to being on call for my job, I have no choice. My Pixel XL should be here this week, I will post numbers. But, I don't really care about how bad the signal is at home, as long as WiFi calling works.

If you stay in town it won't be an issue, but venturing away from town is where I seen the significant drop in signal strength. At home close to a tower it was equal with my note 7, but the further I got from the tower the difference in signal strength dropped significantly

not sure any one issue or situation will explain anything. I can say that with verizon my wifes iphone 7 and my pixel xl are not as good as her iphone 5s and my... well my g4, n7, s7e, n7, pixel xl. I am currently waiting to hear back from the verizon tech monitoring my lines. Hoping its this unit and not a systemic issue (specific to me in my house and the circles I circulate in).

I know I cant shut up about this, but all in all i still love the pixel xl. I will also say that even with the possible signal wows. I get much better battery then with any phone I have every owned. I have ALL features I can think of enabled and still get home with 40-60 battery. the next best phone I had was the n7 with everything on as well and I would usually have 30's to 40's. during the day I am more of an message/email/call user with some bathtime reading and games. but even when i get home and watch videos and play games I am rarely going to bed with less then 25%. As a matter of fact I set up the battery to engage in saver mode at 15% and have yet to see it.

I f given the option I would still take the n7 based on what each phone offered and can do, but not by that big of margin and I am sure over time google will expand features ( one of the best things about this phone ) were as sumsung was probably not even going to get many updates.

Curious if your wife got the update for her 7. It seems to have fixed the RF problems.

Wonder if all of us should use the same app to make comparisons? Was going to put it on my 10 and get comparisons so when the Pixel shows I can say better or worse.

I can say so far the reception has been better than my HTC M9, my house is in a newer area that has spotty LTE at best. Most often while on the phone with the M9 I would be cutting in and out, dropped calls, etc.
So far with the Pixel I have not had any dropped calls or cut outs, granted we are talking about a week worth of time so still need more to confirm.

I have an order in for a 128 XL and am concerned about this possible signal strength issue. Several years ago I had a Samsung Droid Charge that was horrible holding a 4G signal at my house. Now I have a Moto Droid Turbo that is rock solid in locations the Charge couldn't get reception.

I went to the Verizon store near my office today and set my Turbo side by side with both the Pixel and Pixel XL. Went to About Phone/Status and looked at the db level. Of course they usually have strong signals in the stores. My Turbo was showing -69 and the two Pixels were -89 and -90. Not good. This was all LTE. There was an LG V20 there as well that was showing -72. I guess Moto really does have the best radios. If this is the case with mine when I unbox it, I will be sending it back that day. It must have a good radio for $900.

I moved from a droid turbo and the wife, an s6. No issues at all and my signal is VERY close to the Motorola DT. Matter of fact, I'm not dropping calls anymore either.

Came from the note 7 mess, hoping Google Pixel had it going on, but they forgot 1 thing.... SIGNAL STRENGTH. (Well 2 things wifi connection), (Well 3 things Bluetooth connection problems)

You should have learned from their pixel C tablet debacle that the wifi and Bluetooth would suck on this device.......

Honestly after my pixel the next worst phone is my sons core prime, which is a cheapy anyway and is abused by a 12 yo. Also on the bad list is my wifes new iphone 7. At first we thought it was just my phone but she has had some dropped calls as well. Not nearly as much as me.

I'm on Verizon as well and live in a rural area. My closest tower is around 12 miles away which is the fringe for LTE signals. When I moved here in 2009, my 3G signal was passable, around -82dBm outside and -95 to -105dBm inside, so I got a Network Extender in the home. After we had some long term issues with it and I had to go without for awhile, I found that the signal level in our area had dropped. Now outside we get around -95dBm and inside is useless unless your next to a window, and even then keeping a call going is an ordeal. Apparently the switch to LTE has also decreased the signal range for 3G.

Regardless, one of the reasons I'm looking at a Pixel is being able to have WiFi calling in an unlocked device with pure Android and quick updates. I was hoping they'd bring WiFi calling to my 6p, but that isn't going to happen, so it'll either go to someone on our share plan that lives in good signal area other my backup.

So because of this thread I am starting to track my two current phones; HTC 10 and an iPhone 5 (to be replaced). The back corner of my house is a proverbial dead zone. The other two carriers "die" back there. Part of the reason I am on Big Red.

iPhone trended from 99-107.
HTC 10 trended from 97-103. I did use my phone for voice last night due to work calling with support issues. I had calls dropped by my DNA on the same couch cushion. I have not had a call dropped with my 10 in the six months that I have owned it supporting my customers from there.

Could the dB numbers just be people being sensitive (I hope)? I really want the Pixel but the call coverage and notifications HAVE to be there as this is my wifes primary point of communication. Period.

I dont think so. she usually doesnt update anything. I noticed someone say somehting about it and didnt have time last night with all the free candy.
