Plan to get the Pixel 3 / 3 XL?

Something I think it's not customer friendly and I may probably switch to the iPhone given the way I am being treated by Google.

That is standard practice in the industry - it's securing a deposit in case they don't receive your device back in the condition described. Apple does the same thing, as described here:

https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair/service/express-replacement

What are the charges on my credit card?
When you request Express Replacement Service, we put a temporary authorization on your credit card to cover the full replacement value of your product. This authorization will expire if:

Your repair is covered under warranty, an AppleCare plan, or consumer law
We receive your original product on time. In that case, you won’t pay late fees or replacement value.
Late fees and replacement value
When we send you a replacement iPhone through Express Replacement Service, you need to return your originally purchased iPhone to us within 10 business days. After 10 days, we'll charge you the full replacement value.

If your original iPhone arrives late, we’ll remove the charge for the replacement value. You’ll pay only a late fee. A late return is between 10 and 20 business days after we ship the replacement to you.

If your iPhone was severely damaged in an accident or it's inoperable after unauthorized modifications, or if we never receive it, we’ll charge you the replacement value.

I don't upgrade every year so I'm coming from a Nexus 6p that is working OK. So I'll be buying the 3 XL

I own a Pixel 2, and after update to Android 9 - call recorder doesn't work. I found out that the problem is Google's new policy not to allow call recording at all. That is a deal breaker for me.

I'll have to get the Google pixel 3 because my current Pixel 2XL is lagging and despite attempt to replace it, Google is asking for a down payment equivalent to the initial purchasing cost in order for them to hold it before they can send me a replacement device. Something I think it's not customer friendly and I may probably switch to the iPhone given the way I am being treated by Google. I also have Google Store Credit Card with an almost zero balance, they will not allow me to use it either. I am in a mess stuck with this lagging Pixel 2XL. Can anybody please help!!!!

I don't know if this helps but it's only a temporary hold that they place on your card that disappears after a few days. Your other option is to send yours back first. Very few manufacturers do that. As an example, if it were LG you would be waiting 2 weeks plus to repair your unit.

Now that I've seen alleged leaks for the Pixel 3, I'm very interested in it! Apparently it's 5.5"? So perhaps I'll keep it in mind for when I upgrade in another year and a half!

Kate and I went with Google Fi when I got the 2 XL and she inherited my Nexus 6.
The Nexus 6 battery is starting to fail after all these years.
So it's definite that she is inheriting my Pixel 2 XL and I'm getting the 3 XL.
Case closed! :)

Why can't Kate get the 3XL and you keep the 2XL? Poor Kate.

There will be newer and better phones out at that time.. I'm looking to trade my in towards the new pix hopefully they give something similar like they did with the notes

Can I ask why you record calls? Is it for work? I have never done this.

I'll just cut and paste this reply from an earlier post in this thread...

Kate can have whatever she wants. However she couldn't care less about technology. Her phone before this one was an ancient flip phone that only made phone calls. I've dragged her kicking and screaming into the smartphone world. Her using a Google phone was the only way the two of us could get on to Google Fi. And THAT she wanted to do to cut our monthly phone bill from $140 to $35. She has now become addicted to "OK Google" and marveling at the capabilities. My current project with her is acclimating her to the usefulness of Microsoft OneNote. We're taking it one step at a time.

Well the pixel 3 will have a 5.4" display so slightly larger than the 5.0 now which is a nice size. The 3XL is going to be HUGE
On the fence. My Pixel 2 is great but I think I want to go back to a bigger screen, but that notch!!!!

These would go good with your upgraded Pixel

Sony's WH-1000XM3 are a new generation of active noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones https://www.androidcentral.com/thri...-active-noise-cancelling-bluetooth-headphones

For sure! But I don't always upgrade to the latest and greatest. The Pixel 2 was the first time I've gotten a "current" flagship. I'm usually good with last year's flagship or a mid-range phone. :)

Add the future fun of combining two incomes! Such excitement! :)

It's time to break that habit 😁
