I'm having a problem where I cant get to the clock/alarm settings anymore on my dinc 2. I can click on the weather part of the clock weather widget and it will get me to the weather but no clock or alarm functions. I did do the gingerbread update the other but don't know if it has anything to do with that since I have used the alarm/clock since the upgrade. This was just something that randomly happened. I was doing some cleaning on my astro manager with some files but i don't believe that would have anything to do with it. Is there a setting that i turned off......is this happening to anyone else and if so, is there a fix. I ended up having to install an alarm app for last night but I'd much rather have the sense stock one. Please help!

No, you're not the only one. There are other people posting this comment in the "Things Improved/Changed with GB" thread here.

Happening to me too. I need to sleep in sometimes due to an irregular schedule but now that alarm is going to go off at 7:30 and 8:00 every morning until I find another way to get to those settings. Somebody suggested trying a battery pull, so I tried that, but no luck. Somebody else said a factory reset fixed it for them, but I'm avoiding that for now because it's a pain in the ass to set everything back up. So as a workaround I think I may just adjust the alarm volume to zero when I don't need to wake up early.

Let's all email HTC support about this.

Hey everybody, I just spoke with HTC support about this and he said I was the first person he had spoken with who even had the Gingerbread update. So this was not previously an issue on their radar. Let's put it there! Those of us in the USA would call 866-449-8358. But don't do it from the phone you're calling about, they ask, I guess since they'll be asking you to fiddle with the phone while you talk and plus you may need your MEI number, which lives under the battery.

After he went and got a Gingerbreaded Dinc2 on his end and played with it to try to replicate the issue (it occurs to me now that i don't know if the same thing was happening to his), he said the only thing he can suggest at this point is a factory reset. I'm going to try that tonight once I make sure I know all of the stuff I've got so I can get it again if something goes wrong (like apps I got on free day at Amazon, etc.).

He also suggested that I download some other apps from the market as substitutes until this gets fixed. So, just need an alarm for waking, a timer for cooking, a stopwatch for various stuff, etc. I think there was one more thing in there but I can't remember.

I asked him whether, since they just pushed out the Gingerbread update, they'd be likely to push out another update anytime soon, and he said they typically wouldn't push out an update for one little thing like this, but it all depends on how many people they hear from. If lots of people are calling in with various problems, that can influence them to release an update sooner. So don't be shy. It was an easy call and the guy I got was easy and knowledgeable.

He said the same thing happened to the Thunderbolt after an update (I don't remember hearing of it but I pay less attention to that forum after I returned that phone). He said that a later update fixed it. So I imagine this will get fixed at some point if enough issues pile up.

I also asked if I'd have to reupdate to Gingerbread after the factory reset and he said no - it will remember the most current firmware despite the factory reset.

So there you go. It's now a known issue but could use more weight of other people calling into HTC to let them know. I'll crosspost this in the other Gingerbread issues thread.

Good stuff. I ended up calling HTC as well and they're starting to have alot of complaints about it so hopefully there would be some sort of update soon. I did the battery pull but no luck and I really just don't want to do a hard reset since that's not even going to fix it for sure plus the pain of redoing alot of your stuff. In the meantime, downloaded alarm clock plus in the market.....its free and so far so good. I'd rather much prefer the stock sense alarm though so hopefully an update comes soon.

I did the same thing, touching the weather part of the widget, and get only weather. However, when I.touch the actual clock, I get all of the time zone and alarm functions. Running stock VZW Gingerbread update.

I had this same issue. If you have some type of task manager, such as ATK (advanced task killer), you won't be able to get to the clock for some reason. I unistalled ATK, problem fixed.

I also had the clock app disappear after upgrading to GB.

Mysteriously enough, yesterday the Clock app reappeared in the app drawer and the clock widget started functioning again on my DINC2!

I had updated and installed a few apps yesterday which may have triggered a fix perhaps?

Updated the CNN app
Added GateGuru
Added Priority Pass

Don't know if this is now resolved permanently, something tells me it will only be temporary, but thought I would report this.

Actually I did a factory reset and everything was fine up until a few days ago where it was no where to be found again. No app killer on my phone but since jjenri09 said that once they removed it, it came back up and with tinkering of your apps.....it has to be something where certain apps or whatever just are not letting it work.

On a side note, I'm hearing two different camps developing based on this and other threads - those whose clock shows up in their app drawer and those whose clock doesn't. Mine never has, pre or post GB. That's weird.

I have used my alarm every night since I got my phone, before the GB update and afterwards, now all of a sudden tonight it doesn't work.

Tried battery pull with no luck :(

i just read this thread tried to see if I was affected and sure enough, I am! I use beautiful widgets but I too touch the weather part and that works fine. As soon as I touch the time part, nothing happens. This GB update has been on my phone for a while now. and I do remember messing around with my clock after the update. So I dont know if its really GB related or not.

I will be checking back here for updates tho...

update: just checked my wife's DINC2 and her clock pulls up fine and I installed the GB update on hers the night it came out

After Gingerbread update my alarm clock was not available from the clock widget. I removed Advanced Task Killer and the issue cleared.

That is interesting. I don't have ATK but still have the issue. I wonder if there are may apps that could cause this problem.

There are several coding issues with the gingerbread update for some reason. A factory data re-set as much of a pain as it is seems to be settling everything down for the most part. I think we are probably going to see a rapid ROM update pushed to our phones but it's going to take a bit yet while they find what is causing all the issues. Do take the time to let HTC know what issues you are seeing after installing the update so that they feel a hot fix or ROM update is required.

My advice would be not to bother with it. I went through the trouble and a couple hours later the clock is gone again. So it took longer to do the reset than I had the clock working.

Anyone know the easiest way to contact HTC about this? Everyone should so they try to resolve the issue.

New Dinc 2 owner and I absolutely love this phone, but I too am experiencing this same problem. I always like to blame VZW bloatware cause its convenient.

As of last night, same problem here. The only thing I added between Friday morning (when it was working fine) and last night (when it stopped working) was the Google+ app. I forgot my phone at home this morning, but I will try removing that when I get home to see if it corrects the problem. FWIW, I'm using the 2.3.3 stock update (minus the bloatware), and have been for a couple weeks. I did a complete wipe of the phone prior to installing, and up until last night, had no problems. YMMV,

Bryan

My phone was fine until the GB update. I lost the alarm function and I also lost the ability to open the Market app so yesterday I took the time to perform a factory reset. Total pita but so far everything is working again. I'll monitor to see if it stops working again as indicated by mgftp.
