Please weigh in on your Note8 vs/and/or Pixel 2XL experience . . .

In the end regardless of which forum you post this in, no one can make a valid claim that one is better than the other. It's a question of what's better for you. There is not some magical experience that you will get with either phone. They both do some things differently.

Let us know what you decide.

If you're leaning towards the Pixel 2XL you might consider waiting for the 3XL if you want wireless charging. I don't like that they are going with a glass back but that seems to be the way of the world. I don't think overall that the 3 will offer much more but you seem to like jumping from phone to phone. Of course you could get it now and upgrade later. I feel the same way about the Note.... You could wait for the next iteration. As far as comments that the Pixel lacks a jack, I don't see it that way. I see the adapter as an improvement because you can change the audio experience with other adapters. I'm using the adapter from the Razer phone and it kicks some serious tail. The stock adaptor isn't shabby and is better than most phones, but I really like the Razer adapter. It comes close to the LG QUAD DAC. Of course if you want to bump up the audio in the Note you can also use an adapter since it should support USB C audio but I haven't confirmed that. If audio isn't important to you than no worries but just wanted you to know there are options.

Thanks Mike . . One of my reasons for not waiting is I can get the 2xl for 149 . . When the 3 comes out it will of course be more (probably 249 or 299 the way my plan runs) . . But yes I might still wait but I too hate glass backs, one of the lesser "pro's" of the pixel over the note for me.

Sure beats what I paid. Oh.... one of the other things I despise are curved screens and they are pretty much impossible to avoid. For me though the Pixel isn't too bad because the curve is slight and it's only the glass and not the screen itself.

I can't figure out this industry....glass backs that some like to call premium, curved screens that don't dance well with screen protectors, taller phones that look weird, notches that look like something is missing and missing headphone jacks replaced with dongles for those that care.

I just wish there was one phone that had it all.

So Mike, if I don't really care about wireless charging, or having an 845 vs 835, can you think of any other reason to wait for the 3xl? I guess I was concerned about display quality but so many people like yourself are fine with it (I know, ymmv, and there are some bad ones out there, but it doesn't seem to be the dumpster fire it was shaping up to be at release). It always seems like I resonate with your perspective in other posts, so I'll just simply ask if you have any complaints about your experience?

I had one of the first phones that had wireless charging....I thought it was the greatest thing and I swore when it came time to upgrade I wouldn't go without out. Then quick charging came into the mainstream and I haven't looked back. There's nothing wrong with it, however going to a glass back to just include it goes against my grain. My Droid with wireless had a Kevlar back and after awhile I stopped using a case and screen protector Dropped it all of the time and never a scratch.

As far as the 3XL we don't know what else it brings to the table, not sure why it has a twin selfie camera if the leaks are real. If they were going to double down on cameras I would have preferred rear twins. I'll reserve judgement on the 3 till we know for sure.

In the meantime, very happy with Pixel 2XL. It's very stable and I don't have any screen complaints. It's camera renders my dedicated camera to collecting dust. I do wish it had some manual comtrols, however I have to work hard to ruin a photo in auto. I don't know what kind of voodoo they have going on but at times I think the camera reads my mind.

In the end I have no complaints about this phone except the over hyped stigna that surrounds it. Are there some bad ones out there in the wild?....sure....just like all the other models and brands out there.

I could afford any phone out market and if I had to do it all over again it would still be Pixel 2 XL. That's not to say it's the best phone out there or that I think everyone should own one. It's the best phone for me. I never did understand the need for someone to knock devices they dont own to justify their own purchase. It just makes no sense to me.

I went with the 2xl as I was excited about the camera and the look of it. As soon as I played with one in store I had to preorder it. I have never regretted it. My mum got a Note 8 and asked me to set it up. I just didn't like it. The screen annoyed me with its curves and it felt less substantial in my hand. I still never regretted my choice after trying that phone. I love the stock experience and am in love with android after years of pretty much hating it after using Samsung phones. I had an S3 and it was dreadful. I used a Note 2 and Note 4 and still didn't enjoy yhe andeoid experience with touchwiz on top.

I will keep this phone until it dies or I get a good deal on an upgrade for the Pixel 4 when my contract ends.

My husband has now moved from his Note 4, which he loved, to the P2XL and he loves his new phone. No issues with his either. Mine was manufactured at the end of October 2017 and his was Boxing Day 2017. Both have been great with no screen issues.

Well, haha, after all my back and forth between the pixel 2 and note8 I pulled the trigger on a 249 essential phone on Amazon prime day 🙄
