Polaris office 5 found in Trust go security scan

yes i went to ATT and showed it to them they said the same thing but TGO did identify it as that specific trojan so not sure if its a false flag or what

I think it is a false flag. I had Polaris on my S3 and S2. Hated it, but not malicious.

iv used trust go b4 i upped to kitkat and had no issues

anyone else want to try TG on their htc one att 4.4.2?

locked edition, not rooted or anything

I'm not so sure Polaris is the culprit but it may have been compromised by something it opened. This link to Lookout explains SimpleTemai but also claims Lookout will detect it. Supposedly this Trojan has not been spotted outside China.

I have Polaris enabled although I use OfficeSuite Pro for my document handling and have it set to open Word docs etc by default. I use TrustGo and ran a scan. It did not detect a problem with my installed copy of Polaris. CleanSweep detected no issues either.

Does TrustGo show a Folder location for the SimpleTemai file? If so, you might be able to use Astro File Manager or similar app to delete the offending file. TrustGo does not offer to clean or quarantine the offending file?

If all else fails you might be stuck with a full wipe/reset of your phone to clear the deck and get a fresh install of everything.

still wont let me delete the offending file..and i may try the astro file manager to look for it and do it manually..

thanks for your reply

im trying to locate it in ES file exp> but not having any luck

where should i begin looking?

I'm not familiar with the ES Explorer interface but I'm sure it is similar to Astro. I think the tough part is you can't be sure where exactly the trojan file might be since it could just be linked to Polaris as opposed to being in a Polaris folder.

You'll probably need to look on SDCard0 and search through each folder one at a time. "Download" or "downloads" Folders are good places to start. However, with something like a trojan, if indeed there is one and TrustGo isn't giving a false positive, it may be buried within the Android OS system files which you cannot touch without root access.

The thing that tips me off that you may be OK is twofold. Lookout is not seeing it and TrustGo is not trying to quarantine it. If you can't find it using ES Explorer maybe go to trustgo.com and click on Support>Feedback and see if they'll respond to an inquiry about what you're seeing or email them at support@trustgo.com.

UPDATE:
so i sent my htc one back to warranty for a replacement and got one back running on jellybean still and i ran trust go and no issues were found at all hooray.

also the camera on it is working fine (so far ) no purple or red tinting or hues in low light HOORAH..

im almost afraid to update it to kit kat for fear that it will install polaris 5 with the maleware attached to it again..

so i'll probly just keep it on jellybean for a while since i like having the green battery icon.:)
