Re: [POLL] How satisfied are you after rooting/installing custom

I don't have a problem with the radios or the camera. I guess that's just my experience. Everybody raves about the photos I take with my GNex. The problem is that most don't take the time to lock in the auto-focus. Sure, if you take quit photos utilizing the quick shutter, you may not get as good a photo, but if you take your time, utilizing the camera's settings/options and auto-focus, the pictures are quite good. As for the radios, maybe I just live in a good 4G area, but no problems. No dropped calls. Good 3G/4G switching. Call clarity is great. People complain that the GNex isn't a good phone but its not the case for me! :)

As with anything, the complaints outnumber folks like you b/c the internet is a place for complaining, grieving, helping, etc. etc. :).

W/ the camera, like I said, I barely use it and when I do it's to take a picture to remind me of something later. It can be 2mp for all I care lol

Day 2....the picture is getting somewhat clearer. No nay votes so far. But I suspect hardly any of the skeptics ever come in the rooting section. :-?

Which of course, is exactly where they should be visiting, lol. :)

Re: [POLL] How satisfied are you after rooting/installing custom

I voted very satisfied should've done it sooner.
I never wanted to install a custom ROM. I have been fortunate enough to not experience any major problems on any of my android phones.
My Nexus has none of the problems most people complain about, but it did have the JavaScript problem that I don't think most people even noticed.

I installed Bamf paradigm a few weeks ago and Sourcery this past Saturday, and lean kernel today.
Both fixed the JavaScript problem.
Sourcery has options to change just about everything. I'm using the PlayStation soft buttons.
Now my goal is to see how many people I can make believe that I have a 4.6 inch iPhone by changing the soft buttons to the one centered iPhone button.

Get MIUI, that'll fool them ;).

I believe a couple months back, you were pretty against all this rooting rom stuff. Good to see you on this side. Us root ppl may seem like we are relentlessly pushing non rooters to take the plunge, but when the vast majority are really happy it's all worth it.
We KNOW the rooted and rommed phone is soo much better than stock. ;)

I've never been against it, but your comment helps me prove that people misinterpret things very easily.

I'm against people saying that a phone has to be rooted and rommed in order to make it work as expected, because that statement is absurd.

That is not the same as being against ROMs, I never cared what ROM anyone chose to install, just don't say it's necessary to do in order to make a brand new phone work as expected.

It is an absurd statement, but while that may be, it appears that a lot of folks' experiences seems to bear it out a bit.

Maybe the word "against" was a bad choice. How about resistant? :) I just would like ppl to not be so closed minded about it. You said you answered the first option which was very satisfied. So would you have known about this satisfaction with out at least trying out rooting?
Some in the general section are so adamantly set against rooting it bothers me that they haven't tried it and yet they have formed a really negative opinion.
The fact that rooting has so many useful benefits, and can be undone very easily is a concept lots don't seem to grasp.
Anyways, good to see you around in the rooting section.

Thank you, but I still think there is a small misunderstanding.

I have rooted every android phone I've owned, I just had no desire to apply an alternate ROM because I never had a reason to do it. If the JavaScript problem didn't exist I still wouldn't have done it. I'm very satisfied because the ROMs fixed my single problem, the over clocking and themes are just perks.

I never use instagram to take a pic, I just share pics to it via the gallery/quickpic. Should you feel so inclined to follow, my username on there is quinsdad. Word.

To be back on topic... still VERY satisfied with rooting/ROMing. As always. How do people live without adfree? Mind boggling.

Thanks for the rec, just installed it :-)

No problem, enjoy ad free apps!

EDIT: as an added bonus, if you ever tether your phone it will block ads in your browser on your computer also. Win.
