Poll - Will You Pay the $600 Best Buy Price for the HTC Flyer?

From what I understand, pending means that they have verified that you have the funds and the amount is reserved from your available credit, but when not used for a period of time, based on your card's policy it is removed. When the item ships the status changes from pending to charged. So my guess is that Best Buy is keeping their fingers in your cookie jar. Mine disappeared and reappeared as well and when I cancelled and reordered I showed two pending charges, but now one of those has cleared out.

This is correct. They need to make sure that when they are ready to ship that funds are still available.

Best Buy Return Policy

I verified with Best Buy that there is no restocking fee on tablet pc's as long as they are returned within 14 days even if you open it, according to Best Buy customer service and that restocking fees only apply to specialty order items. Notably the shipping is not refundable. The information on the sidebar on the order status page is incorrect. I invite someone else to make a call to Best Buy and see if you get the same answer on having opened the box.

The Flyer is Taking a Beating

Check out the reviews for the Flyer on the Best Buy pre-order page, by clicking on the link below and then clicking on the customer review tab. They are taking a beating on the digital pen issue, even though they show a 3.4 customer rating. :)

Just to save you the math: ? 499 = 712.57200 U.S. dollars..... OUCH!!!
But at least we should get some information on how good the scribe technology works, before the Best Buy ship date in the US.

Good point! The USD was $780 on my google page. Glad I live HERE. :)

This is off-topic but I need some info in case anyone in here knows the answer:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site
http://forum.androidcentral.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=900967
Operation aborted
OK

Making this reply has required four attempts because a box (with the above text) pops up each time I start to keyboard my reply message. This frequently occurs on other pages of androidcentral---the home page as well as most forum pages. Frustrating puts it mildly! I figure some IE setting or add-on is making this happen . . . or does it also occur on your puters???

I sounds like an issue with Adobe Flash Player, if you have not upgraded to IE8, that will usually fix the issue. If you are running IE8, then your next step would be to uninstall Flash Player and download the latest version and reinstall. Hope it helps.

Thank you, I attempted to upgrade to IE 9 or 10, whichever's the latest, a few weeks ago; however SP2 for Vista is required for ANY IE version after 7. I reaaaaally do not want to add a SP to an otherwise terrrrific puter--my fave of all time!--so I'm exploring other options (if there are any). I've not been able to access this page again till now because of the "IE cannot open . . ." box which stops allllll action on a page. Before I clicked this url this time, I disabled the Shockwave Flash Object in the IE add-ons, and, so far, no box has aborted the operation. Sure hope this is the cure; I can do w/o the SFO!

well still waiting...

yeah, got the message about the flyver release today aswell, but still no good updates from my supplier, hope to get some more specific info in a few days :)

I still absolutely need the pen, but I'll be damned if that tablet interface doesn't look sweet even without the pen.

BB's "overview" of the Flyer contains this info:
16GB internal memoryAlong with a microSDHC card slot allows you to store or transfer media (card not included).

If the small common media card is noted not included, wouldn't you figure the UNcommon, perhaps even considered proprietary HTC Scribe pen would be noted not included (if it isn't)???

I still plan to purchase one. Yes you are paying a premium. They are the only ones offering a pen input.

$499 tablet + $80 for the pen is still cheaper then what the Europeans are paying.

The price is one point; the nonspecific status of Scribe pen inclusion, though, I believe, is the main point of disappointment--and even contention, if you will.

I agree it sucks but I think two things are going on.

#1 If the pen was included they would probably price it at $599, so we are technically being saved $20 bucks.

#2 Without the pen they are hitting the $499 price tag to match the iPad. Its all BS marketing scheming crap.

Well, it looks like I am staying here for another month or so

So I got one back on order :D

S Prime, any idea of why this user manual is from a Costa Rica domain? I'm a bit leary of accessing it . . . bein' the cautious puter user that I am.
