Poor Battery Life?

Ok well I tried. At least I can say that. Back to square one with the battery. I haven't changed settings from last night when I got awesome battery life just from turning off Wi-Fi but now the terrible drain is back again and I have no clue what's causing it.

100% at 6:45 am, barely touched it and now at 10:45 am it's already at 68%... Terrible just terrible.

I'm just glad I'm returning it tomorrow and my test time with it is done.

My original thought on smart watches stands- they are just not ready for my money or time yet. I'll keep an eye on the wearables space and may try again in 6 months or a year once it matures a bit more.

Good luck to you if you plan on keeping yours.

Yeah so I seem to have a strange pattern happening with the battery life.

Early morning until 11ish it drains ridiculously fast, then it slows down to a crawl and is really good. I'm at a loss to explain this inconsistency. I don't use it more in the morning, in fact I use it more after lunch than before so this makes zero sense.

Do you charge it overnight? I had a lot of drain one morning so I restarted the watch and it went back to normal discharge rates. You might try restarting it first thing in the morning and see if you still have discharge problems.

I took mine off of the charger at 8 this morning. It's 3:55 in the afternoon and I have 66% of the battery left.

Nice. I may as well restart it now I guess. I'm returning it tomorrow anyway so will be factory resetting it tonight.

Got mine on 10/15 and usually after 16-18 hours of use I still have 40% or so of battery life.

Turning off wifi fixed my issue. I went from getting 9 hours of battery life to getting more than 20.

Zenwatch manager phone app was causing serious battery drain for me. I think it was designed for the original Zenwatch and doesn't work well with Zenwatch 2. If you use "Wear App Manager" you can see the watch app gets replaced with an older version when you have the phone app installed.

My battery life got better after I uninstalled it, but it still doesn't last anywhere near as long as my LG G Watch did, even after disabling wifi. The G watch has similar specs, the only real difference I can see is the screen, but the increased resolution (320x320 vs 280x280) should be negated by the (supposedly more efficient) AMOLED screen. I really like the look of the watch, but I think "Jawbone UP, Wellness and Zenwatch Manager" are all causing more battery drain than they should.

I was having poor battery issues as well, lucky to get 12 hours out of it. However, once I started rebooting the watch every morning after I took it off the charger it has been running awesome! It has been 8 hours and has only gone down 12%. I don't know, it may be the watchface maker app or something else but all I know is if I reboot the watch every morning it works awesome!

I have found that I periodically have connection issues, where the watch and phone periodically disconnect and reconnect. (This happens more when wifi is on, but occasionally when wifi is off also.) When this happens I need to restart the watch to get it to stop and avoid power drain. (I usually restart both the watch and phone.)

I've had my watch about a week now. The first day, it was dead after 10 hours and I was really concerned, but that night I turned off wifi and with no other changes, battery life more than doubled the next day and has generally been very good ever since, no matter how much I play with it. I do have Zenwatch Manager installed on my phone.

Weird thing this morning though, I took it off the charger this morning and saw it was at 97%, and literally 2 seconds later, it was at 93%. I put it back onto the charger to top off before I left for work, and when I went to get it on my way out, it was at 71%?!? WTF. I restarted it and now it's been at the same percentage for over an hour, so there must be something weird about the battery gauge.

My experience has been exactly the same as yours. But I don't think it's the battery gauge. I think it needs a restart sometimes to resolve whatever issue is causing excessive battery drain (running process or connectivity or something)

Like you, I restarted my watch after seeing the big battery drop, and it was still showing at 71% despite just coming off the charger after a full night's charge. However, it's now more than 4 hours later and showing at 69%, which it's been at almost this entire time.

I guess these are the things we have to put up with as relatively early adopters, but I'm much happier to deal with this at $149 than at ~$400 like most other watches, especially given the near-identical specs of all Android Wear watches. I like what Asus has been doing with their products and position in the marketplace and hope more people come to support them.

I just got my ZenWatch 2 earlier today. When I first started using it I did see what I'd consider fairly fast battery drain. I attributed part of it to me tinkering and testing everything I could think of out, and part of it to settings. Like a lot of other people have reported I (think I) see a significant decrease in battery drain after I turned WiFi off. Reading about what WiFi does it is for syncing your watch to your phone when the two are separated by large distances and the bluetooth isn't within range or connected. Based on that fact there isn't much of a reason to leave it on if you keep your phone and watch in relatively close distance to one another.

You can look at what is draining your watch battery by going into Android Wear on your phone and looking it up as detailed here:
How to check battery draining status of ZenWatch?-ZenWatch

People who have said you feel like ZenWatch Manager is draining your batteries: Do you have ZenWatch Manager set as one of the notification access apps? My thoughts are the only thing you need to give notification access to is Android Wear. I recommend unchecking ZenWatch Manager if its checked for receiving notifications on your phone. On my phone (an HTC One M8 running Android 5.0.1) I go into Settings -> Sound & notification -> Notification access.
