Possible method to root 4.3

CF Auto Root, which these instructions reference, has worked for many people, but not all.

So I am very new to this.I am right now root-retarded, And have rooted for the first time using that method. The root worked, but I have been unsuccessful at flashing a ROM, I tried flashing the CyanogenMod, but it has not worked, I tried it like 3 times. Could it be because of this root method? Or is there another better suited for my S3? Or do you recommend me rooting your method? My phone has already been updated to 4.3 and it is a SPH-L710 model.

I haven't used CF-Auto Root, so I'm not really sure what it does. I'll take a closer look at it this afternoon. Do you know what recovery you have installed (TWRP, CWM, etc.)? When you try to flash CM, what happens?

I was able to successfully root a completely stock (including Knox) Sprint Galaxy S III with the MK3 4.3 build using the saferoot method in this thread: [ROOT] Saferoot: Root for VRUEMJ7, MK2, and Android 4.3 - xda-developers. It does not replace the stock recovery, does not remove the Knox bootloader and does not trigger the Knox e-fuse. The only odd thing I noticed is that I received a few notifications during the process regarding the security policy but they were safe to ignore.

Hello, I need some help, I updated my Sprint Galaxy S3 (SPHL-710) to 4.3, recently rooted it with CF-Auto Root, everything worked fine after updating SuperSu from Google Play, then I used the Cyanogenmod App installer and automatically flashed CM 10 rom, everything works fine, but I would like to go back to 4.3, can I do that via Odin without bricking my phone? Or will it only brick if I try to go back to 4.1.2? I'm scared cauze I don't want to hard brick it for the 3rd time and pay$50 for a Jtag :-\ :-\

Rooting doesn't trip Knox. Flashing a recovery does.

No, plenty of people have rooted 4.3 and flashed a custom recovery. What trips Knox is trying to flash a Kernel that doesn't have the Knox bootloader, or flashing an older ROM in Odin (which replaces the bootloader).

I am pretty sure CWM. Are there any good videos you can refer me to?
Reading the comments from this, Sprint Galaxy S3 having a turn at the Android 4.3 update | Android Central , I am feeling a little discouraged.

Those comments are all from the very early days of the update, when we really didn't know much. The initial reaction to Knox was that it would be impossible to root, but the hacking community has proved to be smarter than we thought. Many people have successfully rooted 4.3 and flashed other ROMs.

I think you should try what I described in post #30. Make sure you have the most current version of CWM. I think I only heard from one person that wasn't successful using this method. If you still can't flash CM, you might want to ask in their forum on XDA.

Do you just want to go back to 4.3, or do you want to unroot and go back to completely stock? If you want to unroot, then flashing the stock 4.3 tar file in Odin should work fine. The only bricks I've heard of were from people who tried to flash 4.1.2 in Odin. One caution though: I'm pretty sure tripping the Knox fuse isn't even recoverable with a jtag.

If you just want the stock ROM, and don't mind being rooted, you can flash it in recovery without having to worry about Odin. Download the stock rooted 4.3 ROM from here:

[STOCK ROM] Stock 4.3 MK3 ROM [ROOTED/UNROOTED] - xda-developers

Note that you shouldn't need the WiFi Fix; that was for people running the 4.3 ROM on older Kernels.

I was rooted in 4.1.2,then updated using kies. Now I've lost root and I'm considering rerooting. If i follow these instructions does this trip the warrantee counter? Is there anyway to reset that yet? If i decide to unroot later will this reset the counter?

well here are my findings aver the course of last night while trying to install cwm on my spint s3 and the hotspot mod.....i used this method to root my phone after installing 4.3 it work...BUT....i previously had it rooted this way on 4.2 but wen updated with the ota 4.3 from sprint i lost root and gain the lovely knox......but it worked wen i rerooted then used rom manager to install cwm recovery to flash the hotspot mod zip file......after that went to root the fiance's sprint s3 only bought 2 months before mine.....she had also went and installed the ota4.3 from sprint but had never been rooted......this mothod of root using cf auto root would not work for me on her phone....the only conclusion i can come up with is that she has never been rooted before....so im also stuck trying to find a method of rooting around knox....

Rooting the official 4.3 ROM, with Knox, will trip the warranty bit, and there is no way that I've seen to reset it.

Ok here is my qeustion......i understand that using the knox remover removes knox ...but wat else does it remove as in does it remove apps if so wat apps...and if i do that how do i gain root....fiance's phone sprint s3 4.3 ....tried rooting with cf auto root and some zip file here no luck super su installs but wont launch knox blocks it.....now i have same phone rooted it wen i had 4.2 with cf auto root did the ota 4.3 update from sprint rerooted same way no problem.....hers will not....so in short what does knox remover remove and will it allow me to gain root if i remove it.....

Also i was able to install cwm touch on her s3 using odin just set odin to not reboot phone or f.reset ithink it is......and pulled batt out and boot back into cwm recovery and fashed the hotspot mod that usesbthe native hotspot........worked like a charm without root access....not from wat i am understanding from my personal findings is that the phone is rooted but now there is a secondary firewall called knox...lol....and its blocking supersu from opening that gateway for apps that need root....thought id share my thoughts even know im a beginner at the phone stuff....think u guys have a name for it lol....cant remember it....

The Knox remover removes the apk files associated with Knox. It does NOT remove Knox from the bootloader. There is, as of this writing, no known way to do that once the update has been applied. That means that any attempt to flash a prior kernel (e.g., 4.1.2) will hard brick the device. The remover does not remove any apps not related to Knox, so far as I understand it.

Yes, using Odin in this way and not letting it reboot is the process described in post #30 of this thread. Did you run the Knox Remover script? If not, that probably explains why Knox is blocking attempts to access root. That's why you need to flash the Knox remove script immediately after flashing SuperSU.

To get the Knox program bypassed go to google play and download supersu from your phone then install. Click open or go to supersu in your apps on phone, then click on it to run it will ask you to disable knox program. This should work for you.
