I wouldn't be surprised if 2.1 rolled out Pre-march. but within the next couple hours is not going to happen. I'm actually so done with this anticipation, that i've grown to be more happy with 2.0.1. I'm in no rush to get 2.1 you can now do everything 2.1 has in 2.0.1 with 3rd party apps. But, it would be nice to have them all be integrated and smooth.

Does anyone really think this 2.1 update is going to make our Droids that much better or end world hunger or stop the end of the world by detecting that comet speeding toward Earth???? The answer to all three = No.

True, but it will give us pinch zoom in the browser and gallery & better battery life among other things. If that is not something to look forward too then I'm not sure what will as far as the a smartphone goes.

True, True. Battery life is more than enough, the rest is just a perk. Browser PTZ yes!

I understand and do enjoy trying to make my device the best it can be but all of these things and more have been obtained for the droid with Root/Rom's for quite some time. Several of the new 2.1 features do not even require root.

what u are refering to are simple apps, they are a far cry from actual 2.1 software.

Do the current ROM's not provide the complete 2.1 experience? I can see that the true 2.1 will give better battery life as a plus. My battery has been good so far but there are times I wish it was better.

how many of you think the delay is on the Motorola end vs the Verizon end?

My $$$$ is on the Verizon end, as always. Anyone who's been around smart phones on Verizon knows they are ALWAYS delayed in their OS releases.

I think that is partially due to working out bugs, they deal with a lot of people and especially with how many people the droid drew to smartphones, they probably dont want an upgrade with silly small problems that wouldnt bother any of us. Imagine a first time smartphone user getting a force close that just requires clicking one of the options to go away.... they would take the phone back worried their device is broken. If any of you have non tech savy parents or relatives, you understand. Now imagien vzw having to deal with that for tons and tons of small problems?
Google/moto are no where near on the same level as RIM, coming from the storm there wasnt even a solid base. Waiting for updates for that wasnt I want live wallpapers and a nicer gallery ect. it was I want a usable device.

You're probably right, ips. I'd rather have solid code late than buggy code early, despite my eagerness for 2.1. It is nice to think that Verizon is learning from Toyota here...we'll see. But "soon" is the most frustrating word in the language, isn't it?

Maybe if they made claims that it would do that stuff.

I start to wonder if the "anti 2.1 trolls" even own droids. Because I do not know too many droid owners who do not want their phones to update. YES YES, unless you're rooted. But you'd like your sholes or BB to update every now and then as well!

I wouldn't be surprised if the update shows up this month, and there are two weeks left. And if the rumors about the Moment getting a 2.1 update on the 22nd are in-fact true, (although, all of our rumors, and even official announcements have been false) then I possibly see the Droid getting it before then.

I hold faith it will be very soon! They fixed the battery cover thing! (mine arrives today!) So why wouldn't they deliver on this!

This is not a battery thread, please start a new thread if you want to discuss that.

i wonder what motoRIM is gonna put out this week as far as info, maybe they will send us all an email and then retract that also. or maybe even tell us what there other phones will do, and when the other ones will get the update.what a joke. terrible pr,what kind of management is that?

I'm not trying to sound like a jackass weasel, so please don't take it this way bud.

But I'm just glad we're getting at least SOME acknowledgment from Moto. My bets are that the delays are coming from Verizon, and NOT Motorola. Verizon has a habit of this, and sometimes it makes the manufacturer look bad.

I'm hopping they deliver with this update or were going to have some angry Droid users

no,i know. im just venting. honestly, i just downloaded sholes 2.0.5 and i am quite pleased. i am just concerned that a company would treat its paying customers like that. what will happen down the road, like say if something happened and we needed a update? are they going to treat us like that? something to think about.

No update...no announcement...this blows! I didn't want to go back to root but it looks like I'm going to have to...

Why would you want to update to a stock 2.1, Id wait till 2.1 gets rooted, then update. It shouldnt take to much longer, and its not like you are getting anything better then your rooted phone.

Maybe they pulled back the update because everyone was made about live wallpapers and launcher2 and are gonna throw it in now, haha, but probably not.
