Seems like a lot of people have played w/ the 2.1 release. Can any of you tell me if 2.1 introduces arrows for cursor control when using the virtual keyboard?

Verizons testing team is top notch when compared to Moto's.
As much as I hate delay's Im happy to know that we will get a bug free rom when it comes around.

If Google cared who had the 2.1 update they wouldn't have released the source code so everyone and their brother could have it. All Google cares about is hardware to deliver their payload - advertising.

i honestly believe that the droidmod 1.0 is better than anythin 2.1 official will evr give us....so if 2.1 came tonight, i would bypass it alltogether.

Check this out guys. I asked bill23 about whether that video we saw yesterday was real and this is what he had to say. Btw if you don't know bill23 he's a very reliable source at HowardForums.

you will see a total different version in OTA.youll know its real when you see live wallpapers. ere25 and ere29 do not have that.but they are sure fun to play with.
the new f/w wont be ere either. its going t obe a whole new build.
theres lot of talk of making 2.1 so difficult to root that many people wont bother with rooting the droid anymore. but some will do it to show it can be done of course.

So let's see what happens.

I read and comprehended it perfectly. The concept of Verizon bullying Google is laughable regardless of the reason. Don't assume every line of the post was addressing you

The rest of my post merely pointed out that Google released the source code for ALL manufacturers and end users, so the speculation that there is a conspiracy to prevent other phones from updating is ridiculous. This was posted for everyone, as indicated by the line break between paragraphs.

I just found out that 2.1 for the Moto Droid failed "User Friendly Testing" the last stage of VZW testing last week. Looks like we may be waiting a while longer.

Soon is not soon enough.

I hope my reputation here will save me from any flaming but I figured I'd be the bearer of bad news. According to a very reliable source of mine (and please don't ask about the source, all I will say is that it works closely with Verizon), Android 2.1 has been delayed for the Droid because of bugs discovered late. That's the bad news. Good news is that it *should* only be delayed for two more weeks.

Take it for what it's worth but that's what's happening.

We can all hope for one of the genius' at AllDroid to develop The new HTC Desire Sense UI over to our Droids.

Is that something worth talking about? i know if i had a steady build of Sense on my Droid, i wouldn't even bother looking for new updates and ROMs anymore.

i dont think any overclocking will be needed...the eris and hero will be running 2.1 no problem

thats true, i wasn't sure if the Eris and hero were getting a scaled back version to lighten the load. Not saying sense is a huge load, but it would be nice to have a clean Sense that wouldn't require an increase in CPU requirements. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes but the sense dump their using is of the desire so I can bet its quite a bit CPU intensive than what the hero or Eris will get
