Well its the 17th, when did I say VZW started testing the new build? It usually doesn't take a whole month to test a software update. Is say that its a safe bet, but who knows. HTC is who sets the testing timeline.

Okay so originally we heard that the reason our update failed testing was an ota issue. Well the Droid is getting 2.1 ota, so what's the deal with the Eris? Is sense ui really that much trouble? Just wondering.

Because its bringing 1.5 to 2.1, thats a HUGE jump, and re-writes a LOT of code.

The difference between 2.0.1 and 2.1 are very minor and mostly cosmetic.

Think of it this way:

The Eris is running Windows 95

The Droid is running Windows Vista


Upgrade both to Windows 7

Now that'll be difficult for the 95 machine for it has none of the previous architecture that the Vista machined does.


Counting on both having the same hardware, you'll need to do a fresh install from a disk with the 95 machine, while you can just upgrade online from Vista.


Kinda getting the idea now? For an OTA that big they really have to make adjustments!

Not sure if this has been posted but what will be the difference between the eris and droid if they both get 2.1 besides screen size and a keyboard?

Sense UI plus the Droid will still be a little faster.

and I believe the droid can do live wallpapers.. whereas the eris just needs an extra little push to get the cpu there..

I haven't even had my Eris for a month and I'm getting restless. I can't believe what you others are feeling right now since some of you have had the phone much longer than I have.

Verizon listen! Release it for the Eris! We have less users and it's ready!

Everybody over at the droid forums is freaking out. I mean it'd be different if they were going from 1.5 to 2.1...but they're going from 2.0 to 2.1... They're all acting like they got cheated really badly....

what bugs have been found so far?

Well in the latest ROM that i'm running, the only bugs are the fact that it asks you to sign into google after reboot again, and there are a few problems with HTC Widgets. Other than that, everything works great! Definitely faster than the original root and the 2.1 leak. I have not experienced any lag at all since using this new ROM. And of course you get the possibilities of root...such as deleting stock apps like VVM or Amazon MP3 Did I do it? You bet.
