Post All Eris 2.1 Update Rumors, News, and Updates HERE

I usually don't ask for details, I just take whatever info is volunteered, but ill ask and see what they say

this is awesome and I really hope you are right. I can definitely wait another week.:D

I hope you're right but I think VZW will do what the did with the bbs1 and wait until the n1 is available before we get the coveted 2.1

News has it that Nexus is coming to Verizon March 23rd. Will we have 2.1 for Eris by then? Would it be worth selling my Eris for the Nexus? I have no problem making relatively quick "upgrade" but this all seems a little suspicious in timing....

This is what I thought when I posted the above quote last week.

How I learned to stop complaining and love the Eris.

Just my $.02...

There is no timing conspiracy, and the testing is probably going a little wonky, but the real reason the update isn't out is that they (HTC or Verizon or both) don't quite think it's ready for prime time. I've learned to just appreciate the Eris for what it can do at the moment, and if it can do more soon, then great. If not I will most likely buy a Nexus One. But I am done worrying and waiting.

I know you're right Judas, but us smartphone users are an impatient group as we all know. I remember stalking the Palm forums waiting for the newest and greatest to come to market and behaving like a kid before Christmas with the excitement. Thanks for the positive updates.

Upon further inquiry, I was told that the eris update failed due to the install process was basically performing a factory reset, and even wiping the sd card in some cases. which is never good. As of right now today, the next build hasn't made it to friendly user testing, but VZW is still optimistic they'll get it out by end of March.

I sure hope so by then If not until next week

Friendly user testing usually takes weeks. So since they don't have it there, I doubt it'll be released in one week. My money is on later than the 20th.

If N1 comes to Verizon before end of March I think I'll buy it and give the Eris to my wife. Done and done.

rumor was March 23rd for the N1.. I'd expect 2.1 on the eris the same day to keep everyone happy.

I dont really care much for any other phones since i cant update to anything else with out forking over a lot of money so at this point just waiting for the 2.1 update

I'm looking forward to root here rather than the actual update . Can't wait to overclock this bad boy. have you guys checked out g1 and mytouch3g super DRom? its makes the phones incredibly fast and they are totally stable . but of course eris has to be rooted first . just looking for the sheer speed ...

over clocking kills battery life right? i dont know if i want to over clock the eris with its short battery life lol

Not necessarily. Lots of Droid users overclock quite a bit with minimal to no impact on battery performance. However, the Droid CPU was throttled quite a bit, leaving lots of unused clock speed. I'm not sure that's the case with the eris. And I believe the update is supposed to include some performance enhancements for the eris, just not sure specifically what. I'd say this discussion is better served after both root and 2.1 are available side by side to compare benefits of each.

actually with new rom these guys are taking about, the one called Super D, battery life is exceptional, and Nexus type speed
