So is it plausible that we might see the update within the next week assuming there is no show stopping last minute bugs?

Sprint moderator in charge of Android announcements has disproved the April 9th rumor. Sorry guys look like we'll be waiting until the end of the month.

Meh, if you've played with the latest release (Damage 2.05) it's done. They just have to sign it properly and protected apps in the market work. So far, that is the only thing I found not working in this release, and it can't really be fixed without an official release (that I know of). I for one am really excited, and if you haven't rooted your phone and had it optimized, then you really only have yourself to blame. If you were worried about keeping the look, Gumbo 1.5c was amazing. Super fast and stable. Now Damage 2.05 releasing an unoptimized 2.1 Sprint release and its amazingly stable and surprisingly fast.

cant we all stop rummoring and just wait till it comes because every week someone is saying it is coming out on this day ... omg it is coming out on this day .. and you gettin other people excited for nothing... just wait for it to come out and you will enjoy it very much in till 2.5 or 2.6 comes out or something like that.
Went onto Sprint.com today after 2.1 was "leaked" and they said that the update was scheduled to start rolling out tomorrow (4/9) and in stages... would not give me any idea of what the stages were... but did actually give the date of 4/9... not sure what it is worth.
I was on sprint.com and couldn't find anything. Where did you see this? Did you ask a support guy? Or was it listed somewhere?
Customer support has not idea, neither do in-store techs. The only people that do know will only say they are on track for 2Q2010.
I agree, customer support wouldn't know for sure. Thats why I asked where he got the info, so I could see if it sounded promising.
I asked in support chat... It wasn't on the site... But who knows, because then I asked another chat person a couple hours later just to see the difference and the answer was "mid-april"
for the majority it is im using the 2.1 DDo3 right now.. SDX is having issues with Root though.. I kinda need root but im going to hold on because i flashed all versions of root with big lag on my phone..
For what it's worth, an admin over on the Sprint forums tossed up a post debunking all rumored dates for the 2.1 release. She confirmed that yes, it is in testing (what a newsflash, I know) but that no release date has been announced yet. Based off of what we're seeing now, I can't imagine it will be much longer, but for those that can't wait, well, it looks like SDX is the way to go for the forseeable future.
thats a bunch of crap, they said the same thing a couple of months ago. They're REALLY bad with customer service and phone updates. I think I may consider moving to Verizon who knows what problems they can't resolve when the EVO gets here
