Thought I'd give the ffc a try. Real the grey is with this one (in my best Yoda voice)

Thought I'd give Macro another try since I've had bad results in the past.

I hadn't personally experienced how powerful HDR could be in an average setting. Just sitting in the shade, facing the sun, with sunlight poking through the trees. If anyone thinks the bluer sky is the HDR, I thought that at first too. I took two more pictures and the effect was basically the same.

Yup. That is my experience with HDR. Not sure what that other guy was talking about when he said not to use it is low light situations. That's EXACTLY what you can use it for. It is also helpful on bright days when there are a bunch of shadows as it captures the details in the shadows. The main problem though is that it looks a little oil paintingish. Maybe that is something that is fixed in 1.4 though.

LOL!
Hey wait a minute. I'm that other guy!

Your bright day w/shadows scenario is exactly what High Dynamic Range mode is for (and what I attempted to describe).
Typically an unwanted symptom of HDR is loss of contrast, but somehow the M9 HDR mode is adding brightness and contrast? It defies expectation.

Yeah, I like it. It definitely has the speed limitation inherent to HDR mode, but it can be very helpful if your target isn't moving.

Had this little fella visit my patio this afternoon.

Looks like he may have just had lunch.

I'm looking at these pics and thinking they look pretty good to me. At least as good as my Nexus 6.

Those with the latest camera firmware, does it come included in the 5.1.1 update? If I get one of these, I'm definitely going unlocked.

I've got the unlocked US version. When I got 5.1 (not 5.1.1) my software version jumped from 1.32xxx to 2.8.xxx. So yeah, I'm pretty sure the updates that came with the 1.4 update is included. I haven't noticed a huge difference in pics yet though. Need to try some lowlight shots.

I'm trying to decide if I should switch to the M9 from my Nexus 6. I love the Nexus, but it's just so huge!

That's one of the things that drew me to the M8, then the M9. HTC is one of the few companies that still make flagship android phones that are still easy to maneuver one handed. I stuck with then for top notch build and Sense.

Yeah, it looks like such a beautiful phone, but for some reason I can't quite pull the trigger. I think I'd be pretty happy if I did, though.

My wife has a Z3, and I think 5.2 is the magic number for screen size. I came to the M9 from the G3, and the M9 feels a bit small at times. Still love it though. I enjoy the M9 much more than the G3
