Post Pixel 6/6 Pro Reviews thread

Thanks for the advice. Actually I ended up doing two factory resets yesterday.
It does seem to have helped but still not quite as good as my Pixel 4a. I think one cause is the variable screen cycles. It seems to be slow in kicking in. It would be nice if locking onto one speed would be offered. Maybe in Developer Mode would be a good place to put it.
Tapatalk acts a bit weird at times. When I'm scrolling through posts the screen will just take off and speed through 5 or 6 posts in microseconds.
I'll give the phone a week of normal use and see how it goes.
Well I did the Safe Mode and it was hard to tell if the issue still existed. When I rebooted the phone it was a lot better, also I turned off "Smooth Display". So far the phone is working great. I might turn on the "Smooth Display" later and see what happens.

I have the Pro and I don't see any advantage over straight edges screens. It's a bit annoying when the edge of a photo curves down or when text is at the very edge and does the same. It is what it is. The rest of the phone is great and I wouldn't give it up because of the screen curve.

My confirmation bias wanted to read this lol. Thanks!! Still have some time to think about it but I doubt I'll change my mind

If Google had squared off the screen where the curve ends at the case it would have made a slightly larger more functional screen, especially if a person needs bigger fonts, and possibly a wider keyboard.

Plus, I feel like the screen curves - like notches and the like - eventually "go away" after we've seen them for a while. Eventually we just get used to it! I'd probably be in the same boat as you if I had the Pixel 6 Pro.

I don't need the phone to be best at everything.. But everything I've seen there has been way more positive than negative .. all the reviews of course focus on the camera and video now ... I've seen some negative parts where I looked at the photo and I was happy with it.. Lol I'm no expert but I'm sure plenty of us will be very happy.. Now let's talk about Pixel extras taken for granted like call screening.. Dictation..Google assistant.. when you start using this daily you won't be worried about the nitpicking.. Now all we need is our phones and hopefully no issues with quality control..

With the number of Robocalls I get, the call screening is a HUGE plus, as well as Dictation of textx...right now my ld G4's Speech to Text is so wonky, I'm drooling at the thought of the Pixel's major improvements!

OK, one inconsistency in these various reviews that sticks out to me is about the Gorilla Glass Victus - All reviewers say it's more shatter resistant than "regular" Gorilla Glass 6, but some say it's more scratch resistant, some say less. What say you who have had some real world experience with it?

Way way too long for sure lol. I did enjoy it as always but I couldn't sit through one session lol

"[Corning's] latest endeavor is Gorilla Glass Victus, which can survive drops of up to two meters (6 ft 6 in), compared to the maximum drop height of 1.6 meters for Gorilla Glass 6. It's also twice as scratch-resistant." (source)

Does the 6 Pro have P-OLED victus? Or is it just the P6 that has it?

The display itself on either phone is bonded to the glass, but is not itself made by Corning. The front glass itself on both 6 and 6 Pro is Gorilla Glass Victus. The rear glass on the 6 Pro is also Gorilla Glass Victus, but the 6's rear glass is Gorilla Glass 6.

Didn't see this yet on here but they are always disturbing lol
Yeah, forgot about that dude. Disturbing and painful for me to watch yet somewhat like a train wreck, where I can't stop watching.

That Dbrand skin is pretty cool though. Might have to get me one of those, being in the electronics repair industry for over 3 decades, I like stuff like the innards of devices.
