Power button doesn't send phone to sleep

The power button on my epic won't send the phone to sleep I have to wait for the timeout. I just bought this phone two days ago and it has been nothing but a huge problem, someone please help me.

what other problems have you had? have you downloaded any apps?

It sounds like a hardware defect, you may want to take it back for an exchange since you are well within warranty.

my 3g drops and returns and wifi is really not working with me either. This is kind of troubling because I'm not dumb when it comes to technology and this phone makes me feel otherwise. I guess I'll just take it back to Sprint and have it replaced with a new one.

I only had that problem after I went back to eclair from froyo, but now that i'm back on froyo it works fine.
