Pre-order thread?

Jokes aside, I’ll be perfectly fine with base model. 128 GB is plenty enough for me since i rely on cloud storage and 12 GB RAM is sufficient for the amount of time i keep this phone anyway. It just sucks at $1400 Samsung is putting 128 GB base and doesn’t feel right. I’m thinking another $200 with 512 GB and 16 GB RAM to be more justifiable cost? I don’t know I’m feeling if I’m paying that much i might as well go all in and get the top most spec. It's like the Apple model, make the base model not so desirable so that you are tempted to upgrade to next tier.
I wouldn't feel as bad if on trade in the extra specs made a difference. It seems like all OEMs are getting away from that. I'm trading in a 512GB Ceramic S10+ and that has the same value as a regular S10. Lucky I got it for around the same price as regular S10+.
Even Apple didn't give extra credit for double memory on an iPhone X towards an 11 pro

Yeah i forgot about that. This time I’m on the advantage end since I’m getting same trade in value for my Note 10 as Note 10+ but next time I’ll take a hit with the 512 GB Ultra route. They most likely will have one flat trade in value for the Note 11 and S21. If I get the S20 now it’ll be like $300 which is like peanuts compared to 512 GB Ultra at $900, and next time they will have same trade in value.

Virtual is still better than 24 monthly credits. Theirs no carrier at least in the US that gives you that much off instantly. At least with a virtual card you know you're getting the money soon.
How does the trade in credit work? I'd rather have $300 off at the time of pre-order than just a Virtual Express Prepaid Mastercard card. What are they thinking? That means we still pay full price for the phone.

The higher storage options still fetch a bit more money on the used market. However that means the hassle of dealing with Craigslist scumbags. So probably not worth it.

A t-mobile rep told me that I could use that money to pay off towards the phone but that still doesn't make a difference on what the monthly payments are with $0 down and about $50 a month plus insurance = to about $65 a month. Ouch

Spoke with a Samsung rep via the online chat about an hour ago. She relayed/confirmed that the S20 line of phones will be available for pre-order on samsung.com at 12 AM EST, in less than 10 hours.

It'll be JOD for me, if down payments remain small or non-existent. Love only paying monthly for the phone and upgrading whenever I want, without having to worry about trade-ins or selling. Can do it every month if I want to.

On Swappa it doesnt seem to make as much difference unless you happen to have a rarer model and someone is looking for it at the time. By the time you get through shipping and fees you lose a big chunk. Trading in you do save some additional money because you only pay tax on the difference.

How's the traffic when preorders go live? Does the Samsung and the carrier websites load slow and lose connection?

So since we get a samsung.com credit instead of Buds+. Hows the shipping price buying off there?

I really want to get the Buds+.

may i ask if you guys have experience that in past years, samsung.com actually starts the pre-order process a few hours EARLIER than they said they would?

TMobile used to do that. they'd say they would start at a particular time but, a few hours prior, it has gone live already and i was able to input my pre-order.

just wondering if samsung.com would do the same?

i called the samsung.com phone number (listed on their site). the person answering the phone knew nothing. she barely even knew that there is a new phone coming out called the S20. she was utterly clueless. i wonder why samsung.com would put such a person to answer the phone? it gives an awful impression on the company because it really shows that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Turn unfortunately paying towards the device afterwards doesn't change the monthly.

Just curious, those of us that pre-ordered, should we wait till we get a notification via email or just go to the Samsung Site and order??

i agree with you, @daswooski:

samsung.com didn't make that clear at all!

might we lose our place in line for the S20 Ultra 512gb IF we went forward and placed a pre-order when their website goes live? are there advantages in waiting for the email to arrive?

what if the email never arrives or arrives days later?

Your place in line is more likely based on when you confirm the order

It’s been smooth on all my pre orders on Samsung.com, it should work fine and shouldn’t have any slow down issues. Not sure about carriers.

When preorder opens up just order and the additional credit and everything should show up automatically. No need to wait for Samsung to send email. It’s worked fine for me every time, the reservation credits etc automatically show up on my account when pre order opened. As if i have patience waiting for Samsung to send me a link

Anyone ordering through t mobile instead of samsung here? Does samsung run a check through your carrier so you don't end up paying more money down through them then if you went through the carrier?

Just went to Samsung U.S. site and they made corrections to how the color choices are represented but there is good news as to the color choices.

From what I can see there is no such thing as a Gray 512 Ultra regardless of unlocked or carrier.....for AT&T there is 512 Ultra at all. You can get get a black S20+ on AT&T.

I can live with Black but it's really a shame that the most expensive models have the least options. Even 128 Ultra is limited to gray or black. The only good thing with the 512 is I dont have to choose.
