Pre-ordering with Best Buy

Still nothing for me I'm picking up. I wonder if I won't get an update at all then.

Don't wonder. You will not hear a thing from Best Buy until the 23rd when your phone is ready for pick up. They will be texting people with time frame to come pick up. You surely don't want the entire pre-order crowd coming all at once do you?

If they send me a time to pick up it probably won't happen. It's either lunch time or evening on the 23rd. lol. I am not sure how that will work as I would hope they hold it till then.

They can send me a time frame but I can’t go until after work and Best Buy is over an hour drive for me. So they’ll just have to hold it.

my guy at bb told me they will be calling people Thursday to set up times. he said they call the first person that ordered then work there way down. did you guys order online or in store? I ordered in store my wife wanted to look at the plus before ordering

So bestbuy put a hold on my card on August 8th, then ran card again on the 14th with another hold. So I had 2 holds. Had to call bank to have other hold released back into account. And the chat session I had said that it wouldn't charge again til I pickup the phone. Well that was a lie lol. I just got charged or had another hold put on like 5 minutes ago. So now I have 2 holds from bestbuy on my account now. Wth? So now I have to call bank again for them to release one of the holds.

My Best Buy order has been updated from "Pre-Ordered" to "Preparing." I am doing an in-store Trade-in, so I have to pick it up. I hope it comes early. even if it's a day early, like my Note8 was.

Everyone may want to go in and check with your local Best Buy that your device will be picked up from.

I just went into the one I am picking my device up from and was told that they are not calling anyone and they suggested I just show up Friday morning and wait in line outside until the store opens to pick up my device. No reserved spots at my location.

They also told me since I don't want to activate in store, they will simply give me my sim card to activate once I'm home. I simply will leave my current device I am upgrading from.

I wouldn't say it's useless. If you have an option to order the preship to ship to your home or business, I'd recommend that. Saves you time and hassle and delays of sorts.

It's definitely not useless, when I am getting a better deal for my trade in, through best buy when I pre-order it through them. And, when I can pay it down on my BB card and get points for it too. I don't know about the volume in your area, but the Best Buy I pre-ordered with, let me pick my Note8 up early, when they told me it was ready. I didn't even have to setup a time to do it. I just went in, showed them the email that told me it was ready to be picked up, they checked a few things on my account, charged my card, and sent me home with my Note8.

Mine just updated within the last 20 minutes or so. I've already gone in and updated it to be held at the local UPS terminal (main hub, have done this with several phones in the past).

They will. You pre-ordered. That phone has you name on it. They already sold it to you. You will have your regular hold period just like you buy anything else you buy to pick up in store.
