Verizon Galaxy Nexus confirmed Dec 9 release ? Phone Reviews

Every store I have talked to (Verizon Corportate, Best Buy) said they cannot sell the phone until the official release on Dec 9th. How are people getting it on the 8th? No matter which store I call, they all say the same thing.

Staples is getting it. The GM said be will give me my ne2 along with their 50.00 coupon so I would get it for 200.00. Have dou bts though because of all these small leaks about the quirks of the device.

Every store I have talked to (Verizon Corportate, Best Buy) said they cannot sell the phone until the official release on Dec 9th. How are people getting it on the 8th? No matter which store I call, they all say the same thing.

Honestly, I have no idea. One of my friends called another store close by and they also said the 8th. I'm thinking it might be based on location if it's the 8th or 9th? Not sure though.

Called the Union Square Verizon store and told me i can get it on the 9th.
and to call back tomorrow to see if he can hold one for me.

I called the Verizon store near me and they said Friday. They don't hold phones but showing up when th doors open is the strategy I'm going to use.

Here's what I got:

Visited authorized retailer - "we know nothing."

Visited corporate store:

Them - "I can't confirm anything"
Me: "You can't confirm...December 9th"
Him (smiling): "I just don't want you to hold me liable if it were to change."
Me: "Don't worry, I won't....are they here yet"
Him: "No, but we've got cases in the back"
Coworker of his: "Check back Thursday..."

Went to Costco...spoke to the person in the kiosk, he confirmed for Dec 9th. Then lo and behold took out the dummy nexus from one of the drawers. For the first time I almost felt I had the actual phone in my hand. Looks awesome, has a good weight to it. Then I went to the Verizon store near my home, they pretended they had no clue.

Thanks. I am changing my day off to Friday. I think that will be the best choice for now. If I read about something going on Thursday I will hop on the metro and get to a VWZ store.

I did call the Bowie store back and told the sales rep that I was stuck trying to decide between Thursday and Friday with the birthday and all. I asked him if he were me which day would he take take off. He told me "since he doesn't have any information and most people are saying the 9th he would pick that day" So I told him I will see him Friday morning.

So I called my verizon store here in Westlake Village, CA and I told him I was due for an upgrade. I specifically asked when I would be able to buy the Galaxy Nexus and he said they were told the 8th. Just to make sure, I said "so I can come in on thur and buy the phone" and he said yes, but to call tomorrow and make sure. I asked if I would be able to reserve one and he said they should have a lot in stock...just come in the morning.

Just thought I'd share with you guys. I'm not exactly sure why people at getting different answers on when they could get the phone (8th or 9th), but maybe it has to do with the locations and shipments.

Thats my store also but theyve been giving out conflicting information. I called Sunday and the guy told me Thursday mornin to come in and I could get it. I called yesterday and the guy who answered the phone told me it would be available for a friday sale and made an appointment with me. Today I walked into the store around 4 and the guy I spoke with told me he was pretty sure it was Thursday the 8th and asked one of his coworkers and he also said the 8th. So then I called in tonight at 7 and the girl who answered the phone said Friday. Im confused and who the hell knows. Ill probably show up Thurs and Friday if this doesnt clear up tomorrow.

My store is taking pre-orders for them and are also giving $50 off all 4G phones. So if your in Michigan go to MIO or Standish "The Cellular Collection" Stores and save some money.

Whats the difference anyways between buying your phone from VZW or Best buy. Best buys in my area wouldnt give out any info but I want to know whats up in case I have to go there. I know best buy has a 30 day return policy but other than that I dont know much. Whts the warranty like?, ( I dont want to pay for Best Buys warranty). Does best bbuy sell VZW Total equipment coverage because thats a deal breaker if I cant get that. If my phone were to have an issue after the 30 days could I just take it into vzw after getting it at BB. Any other differences between best buy and VZW store??

Well I was curious after hearing everyone confidently say the 8th/9th, so I randomly selected a few of my local stores in the LA area to give a call and see what the reps had to say (four 4g locations, two non 4g locations).

Here is what I heard:

3 Stores had no information, said that online was rumored the 6th, 8th or 9th of this week. No concrete information and they were apprehensive to say anything, saying they didn't want to give me wrong date to have it rescinded.
1 Store said it was suppose to be released on Friday the 9th, but couldn't hold or reserve one for me.
2 Stores said the release was scheduled to be the 8th or 9th (based on rumors), but they overheard the DM talking to their managers saying there was another slight delay and the date wasn't known.

Oh well looks like the waiting game is still on.

I'm fairly sure demand for this sucker is going to be higher than Verizon anticipates. After waiting almost two years for a Nexus to hit Verizon, I'm not taking chances. I'm checking Thursday and Friday.

unfortunately I have to get it at bestbuy cause all I got for my b-day was bb gift cards, buuuut I'm definitely going tomorrow to see when or if they have any in stock cause I know the manager there. I'll post about it if they do

I just want to say that I travel quite a bit for work and stopped in to 3 separate verizon stores yesterday. I got the same response from all of them, we have no information on a release date and have no pricing details. i called and chatted with verizon yesterday and got the same thing.

I'm calling Shenanigans on all these people that are saying that they got a call from their verizon store saying that they're going to hold one for them etc. I think that's all bull !!

Don't know about folks that got calls, but our local store said they thought they would be able to sell them Thursday, maybe Friday, but they were not positive. This was yesterday. So, call it whatever you like.

Or just wait 1-2 days and see what happens.
