just ordered mine along with the dark grey cover...it said it wouldn't charge until it ships, however i've been charged the full amount after about 5 minutes

anyone have any insight to this?

A lot of companies do this when you pre-order something. They do it to verify that the credit card information is valid. The charge won't post until the device is shipped and you will likely see the initial charge drop off and be replaced by a new one come release date.

I got the grey cover too, but am hoping that other manufacturers will offer something a bit better looking. At $20 it wasn't a bad price though.

I got my pre-order in around 3pm for an 8GB. It'll be replacing my Galaxy Tab 2 - which is nice, but I want the Nexus experience and all that crazy power.

BTW, no charge to my credit card yet.

I will be ordering the 8gb likely. I have all my music in the cloud and also I do believe that ics and up support usb host mode, so I can just plug in my flash drive and mount it. Still to be discovered but I am pretty sure that the external storage works on pretty much all ics devices.

I have one preordered, too! Preorder party! Though, lucky me, I don't actually have to pay for it (college graduation gift), plus I managed to end up with 16 GB version.

I'm really glad this tablet came out; even though I've been thinking I want a 10" tablet, this one is much cheaper and everything about it is glorious, and it will save money (since it's, as I've mentioned, free for me).

I am pumped for "mid July."

crap i didnt notice there was a grey cover available when i ordered the tablet. i went to go buy it and it said the shipping was $10 so i didnt purchase it right away because i wanted to add it to my original order to save on shipping (which google couldnt do). when back to order the cover and now it shows as unavailable in the store

I preordered the 16gb. Had a rooted nook tablet, but having a Nexus device with regular Google updates means I will not have to do all that flashing and updating. Hope I didn't make a mistake with the Kindle Fire 2 coming out next month.

The $25 credit was a bit of a wash (though not quite). For me, shipping was $13.99 and tax was $12.45.

Getting $25 seems like more of an appeasement than a credit or incentive. Someone realized that they didn't want to be price shopped against the Kindle Fire which has no shipping or tax.

I can say for a fact that the 16 GB is $280.85 ($13.99 for two-day shipping and $17.86 for tax for me).

Estimating the same $13.99 shipping cost and $14.27 for tax (I used a 7.172% tax rate based on 16 GB's tax from my order), then it would be about $227.26 for the 8 GB model.
