I just hate reading all the "Verizon will release it when its ready" posts from all the Verizon trolls on here.
I don't think any of us have access to internal VZW documents. I certainly do not. So, I have no "proof". However, if you don't think VZW screwed this up, you're living in a dream world. Just because they didn't announce a date publicly doesn't mean they didn't miss internal dates.
You are absolutely correct that Verizon Wireless has not missed any publicly announced dates. +1 for you.
You are incorrect in stating that they did not screw up. They have a huge inventory of these devices purchased, sitting in warehouses. They have trained staff, paid for marketing campaigns, performed quality assurance testing, prepared an RMA process, etc. etc. Those things cost money... and mobile phone devices do NOT age well. Every day that Verizon doesn't release this phone costs them money.
As bad ass as some think this phone is (I am one of them), mobile phone technology is rapidly advancing and in 4 months, this thing is going to be OLD news. Verizon is missing the boat.... in a similar way that Moto missed the boat on the Bionic.
I think that this lack of communication might show Google's lack of a backbone. They practically own Verizon at this point. While Verizon used to own Google because they took a chance with the Droid line now Google has the upper hand because everyone wants Android devices and if they left Verizon it would go out of business practically so they should really be at Google's command but somehow Google is afraid or something.

The date hasn't passed.
Way to piss on my parade.Yeah it has, if pre-orders had started today they would have taken effect after then nightly rest of Verizon's systems (around midnight,1am or whatever time where you live). It's not happening today.
I'd rather see this phone released in January than get a buggy phone in November or December. I'm glad that VZW respects me enough as a customer to ensure that the product they are releasing (and providing customer support for) is as ready as it can be. Rushing a buggy phone to market to pander to a bunch of self entitled whiners would be a stupid move due to the risk of unfairly tarnishing it's reputation as an advanced phone.
I don't care enough to be mad about it, but just because Verizon didn't publically state a month or date it would be released during that initial press release doesn't mean this device hasn't been delayed. For someone to be upset about a phone being announced on October 21st and having no release date announced since is completely reasonable.
I understand that people may be tired of the 'whining', but let's not pretend Verizon has been innocent in all this just because they used a play-it-safe move by saying it would be the end of the year. Some of us can live with it and not be upset, others aren't going to be that patient.
There's enough phone launches every year for there to be a blueprint on how it works and there's no question that this one has been odd. So what we have is people who are able to deal with it without being upset and those that aren't. Hell, I'd be upset if I made certain moves thinking it would be released in November.
The Verizon apologists need to wake up and stop defending a company that will leave you hanging with refurbs when your phone goes bad on day 15.
Look, Matias Duarte went on the Verge earler in Nov. and said, unequivocally, that the phone would be out in Nov. He was clearly very confident in that date. Google wouldn't have had the big unveiling event if the phone wasn't going to be available within 30 days of the event.
i know its just a phone and verizon really has not even announced it yet so i guess its my own fault for reading all this false info on this forum and getting myself all worked up for nothing.. I sold my phone after i got the Razr and i decided i didn't care for it and really want to check the galaxy out, well in the meantime i'm borrowing someones phone . i don't want to use my upgrade on something i don't want but then again i don't want to keep this guys phone, who i sold mine too. lol , I have called multiple times to ask about the phone and every time i get " i don't know anything about it, hold on let me ask...nope nobody knows anything about it, they usually tell us a week before the release.." ummm so its not gonna be this week...STOP ALL THE RUMORS PLEASE..
They announced on that Friday, October 21st that they would be carrying the phone this year. It's on their news center. It's very odd that a company would announce they'll be carrying a phone and then not even announce a release date a month+ later.
