Preorders starting tomorrow? (Nov 29th)

how does google have the upperhand they make the OS and its FREE! they dont dictate where the phones go that is between the OEM and the carrier. Google has NOTHING to do with android sales.

AOSP is free - a google experience device is NOT free. look at the C&D that cyanogen got because he was distributing google apps along with his AOSP distro

The Verizon apologists need to wake up and stop defending a company that will leave you hanging with refurbs when your phone goes bad on day 15.

Look, Matias Duarte went on the Verge earler in Nov. and said, unequivocally, that the phone would be out in Nov. He was clearly very confident in that date. Google wouldn't have had the big unveiling event if the phone wasn't going to be available within 30 days of the event.

No one is defending Verizon, I have my own issues with them too, but no Matias Duarte, Eric Scidt, and Andy Reuben have absolutely NO control over when a carrier releases a device. The only thing Google and Samsung can do is have the device in the carrier's hands, The carrier sets the release date/timetable PERIOD... how is that so hard to get?

But it was available. November 17 I believe

Guess you weren't around for the Bionic deal.

or go give it some perspective the Blackberry Bold 9000 and the 9900 on AT&T or the 9760 which they never even released. This kind of thing happens all the time in Mobile, it's just becoming more and more visible as more and more bloggers decide they are journalists and legitimate journalists start acting like bloggers.

You're arguing about separate issues, presuming that VZW missing an official target date is the only way it can be screwed up. That's incorrect and short sighted. Internal dates seem to have slipped, very likely the ones communicated to Google and Samsung too, and they've blown Black Friday. This is not "seamless" from any perspective other than an abject apologist's.

So much for the pre-orders starting today. I didn't think it would happen. Maybe next week, maybe never.

They announced on that Friday, October 21st that they would be carrying the phone this year. It's on their news center. It's very odd that a company would announce they'll be carrying a phone and then not even announce a release date a month+ later.
What I found amusing about that annoyncement was the Samsung twitter gaffe, that made them retract a fact, replace with a denial. Only to be informed by Verizon the following day that it was true to begin with.

Maybe, but internal dates are better described as goals. Internal dates are missed all the time, it doesn't indicate a botched launch. There is a reason internal dates are internal and official dates are official. The launch can still be seamless to the 99.9% of customers not putting all their faith in baseless rumors

Doesn't. And the fanboy club isn't.

So using reason, logic and facts makes one a "fanboy"?

What do we call someone who believes every rumor and leak? What do we call someone who ignores logic, reason and fact? What do we call someone with a false sense of entitlement with a propensity for whining?

We call them most of the people in this thread crying about the Nexus "release date"

Yet you have nothing factual to back up your claim. It's not a matter of being a VZW apologist, it's a matter of cutting through the BS and dealing with facts, reason and logic. No matter how you try and spin your argument you have no facts. None. All of your points are derived from unsubstantiated claims and assumptions.

As far as VZW having "blown Black Friday" that is your opinion and not fact. Not every phone has to be released on Black Friday or Cyber Monday to be deemed a success.
