Since we are definatly getting Jellybean, start getting ready for the upgrade now.
When we get an upgrade this ALWAYS comes up.
So, let's just be prepared now.
Hear this clearly;
YOUR PHONE WILL DO BETTER IF YOU DO A FACTORY RESET ON IT WHEN A MAJOR UPGRADE IS PUSHED OUT.
(plus it's a good time to clean it up anyway)
I created this thread on it when we went from GB to ICS

Please read through that thread and save yourself some grief.
Summary is this:
It's really not that big a deal:
-Have a good charge, 40-50% and some time on your hand, know your passwords for accounts, etc.
-Make a pot of coffee.
-back up SD stuff on your pc or Google drive. (I just plugged up to my PC and created a folder on my pc for all the contents and drug them over)
-restore to factory : Settings, Privacy, Factor data reset...heed the warnings and follow the screens, it's very simple. Have a good charge, 40-50% and some time on your hand.
-Drink coffee.
-login into Gmail and it does the rest!
-loaded all my apps back up from Play.
-Updated everything for me.
-Then, just login back into apps as needed, Redbox/Pandora and whatever.

VOILA your done!
Drink more coffee.

I know it's "supposed" to just be fine to overwrite what's on your phone.
But having went through several upgrades over several Android phones and helping others with theirs,
I'm just telling you that doing a factory reset when you get your new Jelly bean will make the whole experience SOOOO much better.
And, you'll loose less hair over it.
And, if you're like me, you need to back up your stuff and clean out junk anyways.
Also, it'll help if you Google for some side by side comparisons of the two operating systems and educate yourself on Jellybean. This way you'll know more about it when we get it.
Enjoy!

A little early don't ya think? It's gonna be a while before we get the upgrade lmao

Yea I agree...its gonna be awhile. But I just have a question.....those of us that are running the .215 leak, should we revert back to the .211 before updating to jelly bean?

Probably. Idk if you will be able to do the ota on a leaked version. Or you can just wait for a flash able jb to be pulled like the other leaks and just flash it.

It's absolutely not too early to start getting stuff ready.
I started this post early intentionally, time to get some Q/A in BEFORE it's pushed out.
See...we already have one question answered! :)

It's better this way than everyone setting their hair on fire the day they wake up and their phone has been updated and we KNOW>>>>
WE KNOW>>>>
Something isn't gonna work right afterwards, never does.

So, do yourself a favor and get ready ahead of time.
Educate yourself on the new and coming look of your phone. Learn how to back things up beforehand and find your passwords.
There is no telling at the posts/questions/frustrations I saw when ICS was pushed out.
And so many of them could be solved by just doing a factory reset.
And learning how to do that ahead of time is good. It's not that hard or bad. But it sounds frightening to some.
An example: some people don't regurarly back up their photos on their phone, so they don't know how.
This far ahead gives everyone time to learn.
And, if it helps one, then it's worth it.

I honestly don't know if I want jb right now, or in the future. I've tried out a few jb roms and have been pleased with the silky smoothness that they run, but miss flash player.

I didn't really have any problems with the ics upgrade, just a little shorter battery life than gb, but that panned out and went back to virtually the same as GB. But if I absolutely have to go to jb I will.

I was told that you could update from .215

And who told you that? It's impossible to know right now if running a leaked version will put you off the ota path. You can probably manually flash it after they release it but I doubt you'll be able to get it ota

I'm going to apologize ahead of time for what will probably be a very stupid question, but should we do the factory reset prior to the upgrade, or after it's done?

Neither is a requirement.

Like I said in my original post...Technically, no, you don't.
But, unless this is a different situation alltogether, mine have ALWAYS ran better after a factory reset. Always.
And, it's a good time to cleanup and redo your phone and back things up anyways.

Now that JB is officall here...I'm restoring my phone now using this way.
Thought someone else might could use some help
