Problem transferring texts from S9+ to S21 Ultra

Hi! I'm going from an s7 to s21 and it is doing the exact same thing. All my mms messages transferred fine, but the sms messages now have a bunch of random other contacts added? It's infuriating. I finally got it to work. I know it's probably too late for you at this point, but maybe someone else will find it helpful!

Just to note: I'm going from S7 to S21 using Smart Switch via Wireless connection using only the native messages app. Textra isn't the problem.

1. Re-ran Smart switch with only Messages selected. No noticeable change.

2. Tried using SMS Back up and restore. Backed stuff up on the S7, then tried Transferring from S7 to S21. No noticeable change.

3. Again, using SMS Back up and Restore, tried using Restore from backup on the s21 (instead of transferring). Again, no noticeable change.

4. DELETED ALL MY MESSAGES ON THE S21 by selecting all of the conversations and deleting them all. THEN I used SMS Back up and Restore using the Restore from Backup feature. While this did work, it only transferred sms messages, not pictures or mms group texts. I suppose I should have guessed that given the name. :/ this is not what I wanted, so I kept trying.

5. Deleted all my messages from my s21, again. Ran smart switch over Wireless connection with only Messages selected. Result: Same issues, but not exactly the same? Like... now there were only 18 people added to my conversation with my sister, where there were 28 before. So there's that. Yay. (If nothing else, it gave me hope because it didn't yield the exact same result as the original transfer)

6. Deleted all my messages, again. Ran Smart Switch from my S7 to S21 over Wireless connection with only Messages selected. By some miracle, it worked this time. Woo!

Thanks for your info... I gave up awhile back as I got my s21 ultra in January...I had tried multiple things & different combinations of steps over a few weeks & nothing worked, so I left it. It looks like all of my texts transferred, just not to all the right places. So, they are still searchable which is really what I needed...
