Problems after 2.2 update - post here.

Battery Life Very Poor

My battery life seems to be equally bad in about the same time frame. I'm going to let it get to the bottom and then charge it all the way back up. Hopefully will be better tomorrow.

I made it through the issues with the "google" error popping up by removing Google Search 2.1.

Then I removed and re-installed my various widgets on Launcher Plus.

Camera worked fine. Flash is working. Market updated midway through the day.

Got my phone back the way I like it. Didn't do too much playing with it today equal to a normal day but whereas I used to get through a normal day with 65+% battery life (sometimes would make it through 2 days without recharging), now I have less than 30% battery life and it is only 4PM.

Same here battery Drain

I made it all the way through the download but now I have a major battery drain!

I am having the same issue with the battery drain. I can go maybe a day & 1/2 on a charge and now its 4 p.m. after full charge and the phone is showing red. Downloaded the update yesterday on a rooted phone stock rom. Update took 4hrs to download and it installed just fine. Of coure the home screen widgets are all messed up. I had to redo those and now my callender won't show my up coming events. I haven't had time to mess with it much but I will re-root it tonight. The battery drain is a major problem!

I thought froy had better battery life?

:(

Four SFs updated OTA today, all stock 2.1. Other than some extended download times and battery drain, no issues during or after; all seem to be functioning 100%.

seems like a lot of people are having problems with the update.

i never screwed with my phone and had everything bone stock, launcher included, and the 2.2 update came through without a hitch. the whole deal took maybe 10 minutes. everything is working properly also. i used up a full charge testing everything i had on the phone. no problems. a lot of my apps and such seem to function better. i am extremely happy with the 2.2 update:cool:

so if you are a bone stock user and are reading this thread don't be afraid to do the update. more than likely you will have the same results as me.

+1... My wife's fascinate was stock and the update is perfect so far, I wanted to see how it would iron out so I flashed DI01 on my phone around noon yesterday, took the OTA for EA28, and then updated to ED01 lastnight OTA and have no complaints so far either? The only thing I noticed is when it finished my home screens where stock and for some reason my soft search key routed through google and gave me a big "woohoo" kind of feeling but now all of a sudden it's back to bing?!? :( All seems fine other than that, none of the problems mentioned here exist on mine or my Wife's Fascinate?

it took me 4 tries but I finally got it installed successfully. lots of changes. seems a good bit quicker too...

No Problems

It took 3 hours to download and about 15 minutes to install. I lost all of my personal shortcuts, and it added ones I did not want. The phone runs faster. I used to get hangups adding shortcuts, now it is quick.

I noticed something, if you are using TW and pinch the screen with 2 fingers, all 7 screens are shown and tapping one takes you to it. Did it always do this?

First, I can't get my phone to link up to my computer anymore. I just used to hook it and blamo. Now, I can't get it to do anything. Maybe I am missing something here?

Second, I have noticed the phone makes a noise notification now when battery level gets low. Is there a way to silence this feature?

Third, apparently there is no longer a true silent mode? When I place my phone in silent mode it seems to be going into a vibrate mode. Am I correct in my assessment?

Thank you for your help.

1) Make sure usb debugging is checked under menu=>settings=>applications=>development

2) Sorry, don't have an answer for this one.

3) Unfortunately a lot of people have complained about this, and there is no longer a true silent mode. vzw/sammy showing they know what everyone wants without actually asking anyone what they want.

Having battery issue too

My battery life seems to be equally bad in about the same time frame. I'm going to let it get to the bottom and then charge it all the way back up. Hopefully will be better tomorrow.

I downloaded the froyo update last night and everything went smoothly. It was done downloading and I was up and running within 30 minutes. My biggest issue is what a few others have noted with the battery. I fortunately bought a second battery when I got the phone so I always have an extra one charged and ready to go but today I've had to change my battery twice! I have never had that many battery issues before. I haven't even used my phone that much today so I'm not sure what is going on.

Even with the battery issue I love the froyo! :)

OMG - I've spent an hour now trying to uninstall google search! I'm ready to throw this phone out the window!

While my phone and update seems to have gone well, a friend is having problems with her phone. The response on her phone is slow; whenever she clicks on an app or swipes from screen to screen it takes seconds for the phone to respond. She is not rooted and is using the regular TWLauncher. She has rebooted the phone several times to no avail. Any suggestions?

I just discovered how to achieve true silent mode Landshark. Go into settings-sound settings- then select vibrate and change from vibrate always to vibrate only when not in silent mode. Now when you lower the volume all the way you get the speaker with the line through it icon with no vibrate.

My wife informed me of her poor battery performance also. Normally she could go a full day with 20% to 30% left at bedtime but today her phone was dead by 5pm.

happy for you all

I am glad the update is at least partially working for most people. My concern is that I've not seen any posts by someone who couldn't get their phone to complete the update.

My phone made it past the download and into the install but about 30% of the way through this process the "box with arrow coming out" turns into a "triangle with an exclamation point" and the phone soft resets. It then went to the recovery screen. I tried the booting normally option and it made it all the way to the unlock screen before it soft reset itself again. I pulled the battery and tried again, to no avail. Again, it soft reset itself as the OS was finishing booting.

I found that I could occasionally stop it from rebooting when unlocked and immediately opened my task killer and ended almost everything. Tried rebooting a few more times, pulling battery occasionally. Clear cache partition did not affect the problem in any way. Finally found a way that I could do to get to where I could just use my phone to make a call... Just have to be insanely proactive with running the task killer before whatever is resetting my phone has a chance to do its dirty work.

I also cleared the cache in the InnoPath Active Care app but unfortunately, now the "Check New" tells me there is no update available. (though status is still showing EA28). Interestingly enough, the phone does not soft reset on boot anymore either. I just ran a backup on Launcher Pro Plus home screens and complete Titanium Backup. Any suggestions on how to get this update? Is a hard reset in the stars for this black sheep of the Samsung family? Has Verizon pulled the update? Am I the only one having this kind of problem?

My camera fix

Had to do a factory reset to get the camera to work - re-installed all apps through market. Camera works fine now.

No more internet connection after 2.2 update

I downloaded the update today and afterwards my phone would not connect to the internet. Called VZW for help and after all their attempts still no internet connection.
They are sending me a new Fascinate via fed ex, no doubt with the old eclair operating system. I will be staying with that....no more updating....what a waste of time.

Thanks for your response. I have tried selecting and unselecting USB debugging many times to no avail. Any other suggestions, or is my phone just goofy now?

Oh, and thanks to the poster up a few posts with the silent/vibrate solution!
