Can anyone help?
I have a nexus 7 2013 LTE, and have been using google photos on it for my Son who is Autistic to play mp4 video files of films etc while out and about. After the most recent update to google photos, when I look at the Device Folders section to view the video files already stored, it no longer shows any thumbnails of the files, just black squares. Since it does not list them alphabetically or show the file name, just the run time of the file, it is impossible to know which file is which film etc. This makes the whole purpose of using the tablet to play films completely useless.

I have checked through all settings and tried reloading video files onto the device, but nothing helps.

Any advice? Thanks.

Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Photos, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now open it and wait a few seconds for the database to rebuild. Do the thumbnails show up now?

You could also try a 3rd party player like MX Player.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work, so I have reverted Google Photos back to factory version 1.0.2 and now it shows the thumbnails fine. At least I can use the tablet again until Google fixes their update.
