Problems with the fingerprint scanner

Its total crap. Seriously, its the worst implementation of a fingerprint scanner one could design. Its almost 2015. Apple got it right; my wife's Iphone6 is soooo much better. I'm not impressed. Actually, not really impressed at all compared to my GN3. I went to CES this year, and saw a whole bunch of fingerprint technology that could easily fit and work better than this POS.

Mine works great. From the video it looks like you are not starting high enough when you scan your thumb. I have both thumb's and an index finger and they all work great.

No problems here unless I go to fast. I have to slow myself down!

Thanks all. After playing with it some more, I was able to get it to work on the first try mostly.

Still seems to be not as user friendly as Apple because you have 2 turn the screen on first, then swipe. With Apple, just press the button.

I also registered 2 prints.. one being my index, one being my thumb. I use my thumb 100% of the time... and usually swipe it down at an angle (holding 1 handed). I expected to have more problems... but to my surprise, it has worked 100% of the time.

Agreed :).

That's what I do and works like 65%

I think it takes a bit of practice as sad as that sounds. It should be much more efficient, but I also am not extremely familiar with fingerprint scanning tech. I also have tried to scan my fingerprint on different angles, and it just gives me the same errors and will not seem to allow it. So for me, scanning the same print multiple ways hasn't been an option.

This -- For me as well.

I also used my thumb to register but when it asked me to train it, the first few times I did it with my thumb to the side... The way I would naturally do it when holding the phone... For the next few registration swipes, I did it with my thumb straight and of course in a downward motion. So far I haven't had to enter my backup password.... I've been starting my swipe by placing my thumb just above the down arrow on the screen and maintaining contact with the phone until my thumb literally clears the phone (I hope that makes sense?)

I guess I'm considered lucky because my finger print scanner works flawless. And it's my main source of unlocking my phone. I figured out the perfect way to swipe my finger that get me in 99.9% of the time.

girls love tech too

My gf swipes away on her gs5 and gets it in 99% of the time i then realized after watching her that i wasnt starting high enough on the screen now it like a charm but the op is right after getting annoyed with swipe failure i immediately thought how much better crapples touch id is..not complaining though NOTE 4 Decimates all

You just have to get use to it. Start dragging your finger higher on the screen, and then onto the scanner. Drag as much of your finger as possible across the scanner. It may help, once you get familiar with it, to rescan your fingers. I find it to be very reliable. It works almost every time for me.

I think Apple clearly has the better TouchID capability here. Based on what i've seen and experienced. However, even with disabling my finger print scanner I still would take the Note 4 over an iPhone. If someone backed over my Note 4 with their vehicle, i'd still take the pieces of Note 4 over the iPhone. So a little finicky fingerprint scanner doesn't offend me.

Yeah their implementation of fingerprint lock is definitely easier and more convenient. Honestly from what I have seen with friends I would use Apple's since it seems to work 99.9% of the time... and I usually don't ever lock my phones.
